The Human Resources & Safety Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of RED Mountain Resort’s human resources and employee safety functions. This position is responsible for developing and supporting effective people practices across the organization, including employee and labour relations, recruitment, onboarding, training and development, retention, performance management, workforce planning, and HR policy development and implementation. The HR Director also provides leadership and oversight of RED’s occupational health and safety program, including WorkSafeBC administration and compliance, safety policies and procedures, incident management, risk mitigation, and the ongoing development of a strong workplace safety culture. As a member of the leadership team, the Director works closely with managers to provide guidance, ensure consistent application of policies and the Collective Agreement, support organizational effectiveness, and foster a safe, respectful, accountable, and engaged workplace. MAJOR RESPONSBILITIES * Responsible for all Human Resources related activities at the organization. * Lead employee and labour relations. Act as the main point of contact between the union representative, unionized employees and management. * Support managers in the resolution of employee discipline issues, in accordance with the discipline policy. * Provide support and coordination in partnership with the CEO and General Manager for collective bargaining processes. * Develop and maintain all policies and handbooks relating to HR. * Coordinate and develop employee orientation and general staff training, including utilizing external providers and developing training materials in house. * Responsible for the management of the HR and Recruitment modules for ADP Workforce Now. * Manage and support organization wide recruitment, including development of postings, screening, interviews, through to the offer and onboarding process. * Lead the employee communication and engagement programs, including incentive programs, engagement surveys and retention programs. * Responsible for all WorkSafeBC claims administration, in consultation with external providers. Liaise with management regarding return-to-work programs and ensure all required investigative reports are completed. Act as the main point of contact for all employee WorkSafeBC communication. * Develop, manage and create safe work procedures, safety policies, safety orientations and other documentation as required, in partnership with management. * Lead the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, ensuring the committee is in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations. * Work with department managers to ensure risk assessments are completed and updated annually for each department. * Ensure workplace inspections are completed by management on a monthly basis. * Maintain up to date knowledge of risk management best practices. KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Education * Bachelor degree in a related discipline. * Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Experience * 7+ years experience in a leadership role in the field of Human Resources. * Experience in employee safety and risk management. Skills and Abilities * Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. * Collaborative and able to work effectively with a wide variety of departments and people. * Excellent conflict resolution skills. * Strong public speaking ability, and able to lead meetings, training sessions and present in other large group settings. * Knowledge of Human Resources management, organizational development and performance management. * Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Google products and resort specific software. The salary range for this position will be $80,000-$90,000 depending on experience.
