Résumé du poste
Company Description Reliance Trucking Inc., founded in 2015 by a professional driver with over 20 years of industry experience, has grown from a single truck into a trusted fleet operation. The company specializes in temperature-controlled freight, supporting customers who require careful handling of time- and climate-sensitive loads. Reliance Trucking is known for reliable cross-border freight solutions, serving clients that move goods between Canada and the United States. We've never had a dedicated sales function and that's what this role is. You won't inherit a book of business. You'll build one from scratch. We're looking for someone who can develop direct shipper relationships, negotiate lane rates, and move Reliance from a broker-dependent carrier to one with a growing portfolio of contracted direct freight. If you've spent your career at a brokerage or a 3PL and want to move carrier-side or if you're at a carrier and want the autonomy to build something from nothing this is the role. What You'll Do Identify and prospect shippers operating in Reliance's existing cross-border lanes (Ontario, Quebec, Midwest US, Northeast US) Build direct relationships with freight/logistics decision-makers at target shippers through cold outreach, site visits, and industry events Negotiate lane rates and close direct shipper contracts that displace brokered loads Manage and grow a book of direct accounts — you own the relationship from first call to ongoing service Work closely with dispatch and operations to ensure service delivery matches what you've sold Bring market intelligence back to leadership — what shippers need, what competitors are doing, where Reliance should be positioned Qualifications 3–5 years of sales experience in freight, logistics, or transportation cross-border Canada–US experience is strongly preferred Existing relationships with shippers in food, agriculture, manufacturing, or similar verticals A proven track record of developing new business, not just managing inherited accounts Understanding of carrier operations: lane economics, rate structures, capacity planning, and how a trucking company actually runs Comfortable working independently this is a build-from-zero role, not a process-following role Based in Ontario or willing to relocate; you'll be on the road visiting shippers regularly. COMPENSATION Base Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 + commission Commission: Commission is uncapped. The more direct freight you bring in, the more you earn and the structure is based on revenue. Send your resume and a short note (3–4 sentences) on: what's the biggest direct shipper account you've ever closed, what was the annual revenue, and how long did it take from first contact to first load? We're not looking for a cover letter, we're looking for specifics.
