AWS Cloud Architect Canada Remote Technical Requirements Category Minimum Qualifications Experience 10+ years in IT Infrastructure with 4+ years focused on large-scale AWS Modernization. Cloud Modernization Specialist (AWS MAP) We are seeking a high-caliber AWS Cloud Architect to spearhead our Modernization Acceleration Program (MAP). This is not a traditional "Lift & Shift" role; you will be the technical visionary responsible for transforming legacy on-premises workloads into high-performance, cloud-native architectures. You will lead the shift from monolithic systems to microservices, utilizing a code-first approach with AWS CDK and TypeScript. Core Responsibilities Strategic Modernization & Architecture Architect cloud-native target states that replace legacy patterns with scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized solutions. Execute modernization pathways within the AWS MAP framework, driving the transition from .NET/SQL Server to modern stacks like PostgreSQL (Aurora) and ECS withFargate. Serve as the technical authority for Modernization Readiness Assessments and Experience-Based Acceleration (EBA) sessions. Infrastructure as Code (CDK & TypeScript) Standardize all infrastructure deployment exclusively via AWS CDK (TypeScript), moving away from manual configurations and CloudFormation. Design and govern reusable CDK constructs to ensure organizational standards for security, networking, and observability are baked into every deployment. Implement enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines with automated security and performance gates. Vendor & Program Leadership Collaborate closely with our preferred vendor to provide technical oversight, ensuring their delivery matches our architectural rigour and modernization roadmap. Mentor internal engineering teams on modern cloud patterns. Professional Qualities Outcome-Driven: Focuses on business value and application agility, not just technical migration. Strategic Communicator: Capable of aligning vendor output with internal stakeholder expectations. Code-First Mindset: Strong advocate for software engineering best practices applied to infrastructure.
