We're partnering confidentially with a leading Canadian food manufacturer seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to play a key role in improving equipment reliability, maintenance strategy, and plant performance within a highly automated manufacturing operation. This is more than a maintenance engineering role. You'll drive equipment reliability, lead root cause investigations, improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs, support capital projects, commission new equipment, and work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to maximize uptime and operational performance. Join a growing manufacturer investing heavily in equipment, technology, and continuous improvement High-visibility engineering role with ownership of plant reliability initiatives Lead capital improvements and equipment optimization projects Modern manufacturing environment with advanced processing and packaging equipment Competitive compensation, bonus opportunities, RRSP matching, and comprehensive benefits Professional development and long-term career growth Collaborative engineering team where your ideas will directly influence operational performance What You'll Be Doing Equipment Reliability & Asset Performance Lead initiatives to improve equipment reliability, availability, and overall plant performance Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies Improve equipment lifecycle performance through reliability-centered maintenance principles Monitor equipment trends and recommend long-term reliability improvements Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement Lead root cause investigations for equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions Drive TPM and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations Analyze downtime data and develop action plans that improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs Support operational excellence through data-driven decision-making Capital Projects & Engineering Support Lead equipment modifications, upgrades, and new equipment installations Support equipment commissioning, start-up, and performance validation Prepare technical specifications, RFQs, RFPs, and vendor documentation Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders during project execution Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations Provide technical guidance during equipment troubleshooting and process improvements Support maintenance teams with equipment optimization and best practices Promote a culture focused on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement What We're Looking For Required Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline 5+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment Strong background in equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance programs Experience leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions Knowledge of processing, packaging, pneumatic, steam, pumping, conveying, and mechanical systems Experience supporting capital projects, equipment upgrades, and commissioning Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills Excellent communication and project coordination abilities Preferred P.Eng designation or eligibility Food, Dairy, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Consumer Packaged Goods, or other regulated manufacturing experience TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Reliability-Centered Maintenance experience CMMS experience CAD software experience TSSA knowledge relating to boilers and pressure systems Ideal Backgrounds We're particularly interested in candidates from: Food Manufacturing Dairy Processing Beverage Manufacturing Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Nutraceutical Manufacturing Chemical Processing Packaging Manufacturing Who Will Thrive Here?
