<p><span><strong>EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY</strong><br><br><strong>VICTIM SERVICES COUNSELLOR</strong><br><strong>FIRST NATIONS SERVICES</strong><br><strong>CAVAC DE L'OUTAOUAIS (MANIWAKI)</strong><br><br>Reporting to the Executive Director, the Victim Services counsellor provides support and intervention services to victims of criminal offences, their loved ones, and witnesses of crime.<br><br>The successful candidate will work within a dynamic and professional team committed to meeting the needs of victims of crime while fostering collaborative relationships with First Nations communities and local partners.<br><br><strong>MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES</strong><br><br>? Welcome, inform, and provide intervention services to victims of crime, their loved ones, and witnesses of criminal offences.<br><br>? Assess clients' needs and provide post-traumatic and psychosocial interventions.<br><br>? Provide information regarding victims' rights and available legal remedies, and offer the required technical assistance.<br><br>? Explain the criminal justice process and deliver witness preparation programs.<br><br>? Accompany victims throughout judicial proceedings, including court appearances.<br><br>? Ensure accurate record keeping and statistical reporting.<br><br>? Perform any other related duties in line with the organization's mandate.<br><br>? Meet with partners from the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg and Lac-Barrière communities to strengthen and develop collaborative processes.<br><br><strong>COLLABORATION</strong><br><br>The successful candidate will work closely with:<br><br>? Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DCPP);<br><br>? Police services;<br><br>? Organizations within the health and social services network;<br><br>? Excellent command of spoken and written French and good command of English in order to serve English-speaking clients.<br><br><strong>REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS</strong><br><br>? University degree in Social Work, Criminology, Psychoeducation, Sexology, Psychology, or another field considered relevant to the position.<br><br>? Membership in a professional order or inclusion in a recognized acquired-rights registry, where applicable.<br><br>? Relevant training or experience in intervention services, particularly with victims of domestic violence or sexual violence.<br><br>? Knowledge of victimology, judicial procedures, and community resources.<br><br>? Excellent judgment and strong clinical assessment and analytical skills.<br><br>? Excellent command of spoken and written French and good spoken English.<br><br>? Criminal record check satisfactory to the requirements of the position.<br><br><strong>ASSETS</strong><br><br>? Lived experience and understanding of the realities of First Nations communities, particularly Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg and Lac-Barrière, is considered a significant asset.<br><br>? Knowledge of the Algonquin language is considered an important asset.<br><br>? Valid driver's licence.<br><br>? Professional experience in victim services or related intervention settings.<br><br>?
