Situated within the shared, unceded territory of the L̓il̓wat7úl (Líl̓wat People) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish People), the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is a vibrant destination resort community, local government organization and leader in providing municipal programs, services, progressive planning and infrastructure. The RMOW is a high-performance municipal organization and significant tourism economy serving a community of 15,000 permanent residents and over three million annual visitors. The Village Services department of the Climate Action, Planning and Development Services has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Labourer I – Village Services. Reporting to the Village Services Supervisor, this position offers a schedule of 76.5 hours bi-weekly, between the crew operating hours of 6:30 am to 5:15 pm, Friday to Monday starting November 2, 2026, until May 1, 2027. The Labourer I’s role is to maintain a safe, clean, and festive environment in all Village areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to litter pick-up; recycling; painting; paver repairs; furniture maintenance; public washroom maintenance; festive lighting activities; snow and ice management; and signage. Qualified applicants possess a grade 12 diploma and at least 6 months of previous work experience in a similar maintenance role including previous experience with the safe use of a variety of small hand and power tools such as: sanders; drills; pressure washers; a variety of ladders; demolition breakers; hammer drills; leaf blowers; lawn trimmers; power brooms; snow blowers; and manual sweepers. Qualified candidates demonstrate good safety awareness and the abilities to effectively solve problems, work independently, manage competing demands, and prioritize work tasks effectively. Level 1 first aid and traffic control certifications are considered assets. Candidates must be physically able to perform moderate to heavy work in all outdoor weather conditions. The successful candidate is customer service focused and demonstrates excellent active listening and verbal communication skills and the strong ability to function as an RMOW ambassador. The successful candidate also demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace within their team and will create and maintain effective working relationships with others while contributing to a positive team environment. The starting wage for this job position is $34.06 per hour. As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid class 5 BC driver’s license and must provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract prior to beginning employment.
