Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS). Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Director, Animal Resources Division (ARD), the incumbent is responsible for the management of the research animal facilities at the Montreal General Hospital (MGH), including the direct management of animal facility staff working in these facilities, budget, operations, resource allocation, infrastructure and equipment. Ensures an operational support to the Investigators and their research personnel. General Duties Assesses staffing requirements, recruits personnel, conducts performance evaluations, assesses training requirements and takes administrative and disciplinary measures related to staff management, establish and encourages team work, works closely with the Human Resource Division Develops, writes and implements policies and procedures related to the operations of the animal facilities. Assures constant quality of services to principal Investigators and their research staff and students. Manages material and capital resource allocation and monitors physical space and equipment availability and maintenance. Coordinate facility renovation projects. Prepares budgets and makes budgetary recommendations to the ARD Director, conducts cost analyses for determining rates, approves purchase requisitions, controls budgets, optimizes productivity and budgetary control. Participates in various committee meetings and presides staff meetings Elaborate and formulate strategic business plans Participates in other projects/tasks as assigned by the Director of the Animal Resources Division Website of the organization https://rimuhc.ca/en Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent Certification CALAS or AALAS (RLAT, RLATG, RMLAT) or equivalent considered an asset A Certification or Master in a recognized management administrative or scientific training program is an asset. A minimum of five (5) years of animal facility managerial experience (Installation and personnel). Required Skills Excellent analytical, organizational and decision-making capacity. Solid leadership, management and communications skills Bilingual spoken and written The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment and to work effectively across all levels of the organization. Additional information Status : Full-time, 35 hours per week Pay Scale: $71,598.80- $132,969.20. Commensurate with qualifications and experience Work Shift: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
