Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS). Position Summary Department / Research Program: CHHD Maelstrom (maelstrom-research.org) is a scientific platform based at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC). The team specializes in the development of methods and tools supporting the documentation, harmonization and integration of data across epidemiological studies. Maelstrom Research also coordinates the production of harmonized datasets integrating data from national and international cohort studies. The multidisciplinary team, currently composed of 12 members, is looking for someone to take part in the management of multidisciplinary projects and in the research and development activities of the platform. Under the supervision of Maelstrom’s directors, the selected candidate will carry out the following tasks: Carry out the technical work related to data management and harmonization. Ensure the implementation and coordination of internal, national and international projects. Participate in Maelstrom’s research and development activities. General Duties Validate the data received from external partners. Assess the harmonization potential of the data. Process, transform, document and validate the generated data. Work closely with the technical teams and external collaborators to implement the specific activities of the various projects. Ensure that project deliverables are met and budgets respected. Propose and implement solutions when problems arise. Contribute to the development of methodological and technical tools. Maintain the technical tools for data harmonization and data assessment, including the R packages. Standards of performance Demonstrates rigour, initiative and a strong sense of accountability. Respects deadlines and can work on several projects simultaneously. Is able to work independently or in a team, with minimum supervision. Communicates clearly and represents the platform professionally with external collaborators. Understands and applies the standards developed by the Maelstrom team. Thinks critically and proposes practical, scientifically sound solutions to complex problems. Website of the organization https://rimuhc.ca/en Education / Experience Education: Master's Degree Field of Study: Epidemiology, computer science, bioinformatics, statistics, epidemiology or other related field Work Experience: 5 years Required Skills This position requires an advanced knowledge of oral and written French. An intermediate knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular contact, as well as processing specific information, with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision. Experience in data management and validation. Proficiency in the R statistical software. Proficiency in Python would be an asset. Experience with web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) would be an asset. Experience in data harmonization and integration would be an asset. Knowledge of Git. Good organization and time management skills, and attention to detail. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
