Role The Business Development Executive will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities within the electrical engineering and power systems industry across the South of England, working with both existing and new customers, including end users and facilities management businesses. Key Responsibilities Market Development Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets such as industrial automation, power generation, power generation, transmission & distribution, renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscape and customer needs Sales & Client Management Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, consultants, EPCs and government agencies Develop tailored proposals and quotations in coordination with the technical and engineering teams Negotiate contracts, pricing, and project terms to close profitable deals Strategic Planning Develop and execute business growth strategies aligned with company goals Forecast sales performance and report on business development activities, pipeline status and revenue targets Collaboration Work closely with internal teams (engineering, procurement, project management and marketing) to deliver customer solutions and ensure satisfaction Provide market feedback to guide product development and innovation Brand & Network Expansion Represent the company at trade shows, industry events and professional networking opportunities Promote the company’s capabilities and technical expertise to potential clients and partners Skills & Experience Required Minimum 5–8 years of experience in business development, sales, or project acquisition within the electrical or energy sector 2–5+ years of experience in control systems design and implementation Solid understanding of electrical systems, power equipment (e.g., switchgear, transformers, motors, control panels) and industrial automation solutions Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills Proficient in CRM systems, MS Office and business reporting tools Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Experience in increasing efficiencies/ cost savings Leadership skills Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required Sales management experience Self-motivated and focused on own development Project Pipeline Negotiation & Closure Experience Project Tendering and Procurement experience Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field Benefits 25 days’ holiday, plus bank holidays After 2 years of continuous service, 1 extra day’s leave per year, up to a maximum of 5 Long Service Awards Training and development opportunities Pension scheme Optical eyecare vouchers Death in Service Healthcare Birthday day-off Latest Careers Project Manager Category: Project Manager Location: Sidcup Salary: £62,436 - £79,126 Published On: February 23rd, 2026 ICP Estimator Category: ICP Estimator Location: Sidcup Salary: £47,599 – £60,581 Published On: May 14th, 2025 Bid Coordinator Category: Bid Coordinator Location: Sidcup Salary: £45,744 – £60,581 Published On: September 30th, 2025 Business Development Executive Category: Business Development Executive Location: Sidcup Salary: On application Published On: April 7th, 2026 Senior Authorised Person Req Number: 123457 Category: SAP Location: Sidcup Salary: £60,209 – £79,879 Published On: April 16th, 2025 12Next
