Overview Our client, a non-profit organization based in New Westminster, BC, is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Consultant for a 3-month part-time contract to support a critical infrastructure modernization initiative. Following a recent server failure and a comprehensive technology assessment, the organization is looking for a hands-on infrastructure professional who can quickly assess the current environment, prioritize key initiatives, and execute technical improvements across servers, backups, networking, security, and overall systems administration. The successful consultant will work closely with internal IT resources and external vendors to stabilize the environment, reduce complexity, improve documentation, and implement infrastructure enhancements that support the organization's long-term technology roadmap. This role requires onsite presence in New Westminster three days per week and is ideal for a consultant who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and delivering practical infrastructure improvements in a complex, evolving environment. Key Responsibilities Review existing infrastructure assessment findings and develop an execution plan for priority initiatives. Lead server consolidation efforts, including decommissioning legacy infrastructure and migrating workloads to a simplified environment. Assess, redesign, and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions. Support the deployment and configuration of a new backup platform. Evaluate and improve Windows Server infrastructure, virtualization, storage, and system performance. Review and optimize VPN, DNS, and network services. Migrate and modernize infrastructure components where required. Implement monitoring, alerting, and infrastructure health reporting. Consolidate and simplify security administration tools, including password management and authentication systems. Create and update technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and support runbooks. Work directly with internal stakeholders and external vendors to execute infrastructure improvements and remediation activities. Provide knowledge transfer and recommendations to support long-term operational sustainability. Required Qualifications 8+ years of infrastructure administration, engineering, or consulting experience. Strong experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments. Proven experience with server migrations, consolidations, and infrastructure modernization projects. Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions. Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows networking. Experience supporting VPN technologies and site-to-site connectivity. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and server-related issues. Experience creating technical documentation and operational procedures. Strong stakeholder communication skills and ability to work independently.
