About the Opportunity Our client, a well-established organization in the insurance sector, is seeking a Senior Privacy Specialist to join their Privacy Office on a long-term contract basis through March 2028. This position plays a key role in supporting and enhancing enterprise-wide privacy programs, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations, and partnering closely with business leaders to embed privacy practices across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a privacy professional who enjoys collaborating with stakeholders, navigating regulatory requirements, and driving privacy program effectiveness in a complex business environment. Location: Downtown Toronto or Cambridge, ON (Hybrid - 1 day onsite per week) Contract Duration: immediate start until March 2028 Compensation: 35-45/h T4 Designation requirement: CIPP/C and/or CAN/DGSI or relevant privacy-related designation would be assets Key Responsibilities Privacy Program Support & Enhancement Support the ongoing maturity, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the organization's privacy program. Collaborate with business unit Privacy Champions to ensure privacy-related responsibilities are completed. Assist with the development, implementation, and enhancement of privacy policies, procedures, and controls. Support privacy mitigation planning and track remediation activities. Prepare reports and materials for privacy governance and compliance meetings. Privacy Intake & Response Management Manage intake, acknowledgment, and information gathering related to: Privacy incidents and breaches Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) Business consultations Privacy-related access requests Privacy complaints Conduct preliminary research and collaborate with stakeholders to support assessments and investigations. Manage and respond to inquiries received through the Privacy Office mailbox. Regulatory & Privacy Readiness Monitor privacy trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks. Support organizational readiness initiatives related to evolving privacy requirements. Partner with internal teams to assess regulatory impacts and support compliance efforts. Develop reports, presentations, and educational materials for stakeholder workshops and awareness programs. Privacy Platform & Records Management Maintain privacy records, reporting data, and supporting documentation. Administer and update privacy information within the organization's governance and risk management platform. Generate privacy dashboards, Key Risk Indicator (KRI), and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting. Ensure privacy records remain accurate, current, and properly maintained. Qualifications Required Experience & Skills 3 to 5 years of experience in privacy, compliance, risk management, governance, or a related field within insurance, financial services or banking environment. CIPP/C and/or CAN/DGSI or relevant privacy-related designation would be assets. Strong understanding of privacy legislation, regulatory requirements, and privacy best practices. Ability to interpret and apply privacy requirements within a regulated environment. Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting. Strong analytical and investigative skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder communications. Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of an organization. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. What Success Looks Like Building strong relationships with business stakeholders and Privacy Champions. Supporting efficient privacy operations and response management processes. Contributing to privacy program maturity and regulatory compliance initiatives. Delivering high-quality reporting, documentation, and stakeholder communications. Maintaining accurate privacy records and supporting data-driven decision-making.
