Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services is seeking a strategic, people-focused, and visionary leader to serve as Vice President, Human Resources (VP HR), a pivotal executive role helping to shape the workforce behind a large and complex public sector organization. Reporting directly to the President and the CEO, the VP HR is a key member of the Executive Management Committee and Senior Leadership Team, combining strategic and operational accountability to support the ongoing vision and values of NL Health Services. The VP HR will lead the integration of a diverse workforce of dedicated health care professionals, administrators, and support staff, providing province-wide leadership across workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, employee relations, organizational development, labour relations, occupational health and safety and HR client services. As the organization's most senior HR leader, the VP HR will guide the phased adoption of standardized human resources approaches and labour relations methods across the province, working closely with the VP Digital Services and Chief Information Officer to implement corporate and employee-facing tools, while collaborating with senior leaders to craft the organization's talent acquisition, retention, training, continuing education, professional practice, and performance monitoring strategies. In addition to HR, this position may be assigned other portfolios. The ideal candidate brings extensive credentials as a senior administrator, strategist, and policy developer, with a track record of leading HR strategy for a diverse workforce. They demonstrate an excellent understanding of labour relations and relevant labour regulations, along with a thorough grasp of current HR practices spanning workforce planning, talent acquisition, retention, talent management, professional development, and labour market analysis. The candidate will have a Master's degree. Experience leading organizational change through major transformation will be considered an asset. They are a trusted advisor with demonstrated experience working with senior executives, Boards, and government stakeholders.
