Reports to: Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor & Maintenance Manager Position Overview The Vehicle Maintenance Assistant Supervisor works as an integral member of the Vehicle Maintenance (VM) team. The position is primarily hands on, working on the shop floor to maintain, repair, and support the safe and reliable operation of the resort’s vehicle and equipment fleet. In addition to their trade responsibilities, the position provides consistent leadership and support to the VM team. Working closely with the Supervisor, the role helps balance workloads, coordinate priorities, and ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely and efficiently. The role would also commit the individual to attend periodic meetings and communicating with the team on current events etc. The position also supports the leadership, mentoring, and development of the various trades staff within the VM team. This includes providing direction on daily tasks, assisting with problem-solving, and sharing technical knowledge and experience with team members. The role is intended to be a working leadership position, remaining actively involved in maintenance while providing supervision, guidance, and support to the team. Assistant Supervisor Duties Regular communication with the VM Supervisor. Provide information promptly regarding problems and opportunities. Fostering and mentoring a maintenance team that is knowledgeable, motivated, focused and interacts with others in a way that will promote team spirit and morale. Ensuring Marmot Basin’s best interests are always forefront. Responsibility for the proper training and oversight of staff. Adhering to, and understanding the Alberta OH&S & WCB objectives and regulations. Respecting and adhering to the company’s policies and procedures as set in the “Corporate Policies”, “Employee Handbook” and “Safety Operations Training Manuals”. Understanding and adhering to Ski Marmot Basin’s “Harassment Policy” and the company’s “Privacy Policy”. Working on the floor or in the field as necessary. Working, at times, in adverse and extremely cold weather conditions. Other Job Duties/Responsibilities Ensuring the proper maintenance and availability of all on-road and off-road vehicles and equipment, all portable and emergency gensets, all snow removal equipment, all ski lift emergency and auxiliary engines, etc. Supervising Journeyman and Apprentice Mechanics in the execution of daily assigned duties. Performing payroll related activities daily; manage scheduling and shift coverage. Ensuring preventive maintenance and required repairs are made to maintain all rubber-tired vehicles, tracked snow grooming equipment, snowmobiles, and earth and snow removal equipment and accessories. Ensuring proper maintenance and repair of small engine equipment on site (i.e. pumps, compressors, brushers, chainsaws etc.). Ensuring proper maintenance of hand and shop tools and equipment. Ensuring all work orders are submitted fully completed and accurate in the details recorded. Ordering of parts and supplies as required; ensuring proper receiving procedures are followed and invoices/purchase orders are properly filled out, reconciled, and delivered to Accounts Payable in a timely manner. Monitoring the operator’s equipment log sheets daily; initiating action where necessary. Delivering the proper training of equipment use/vehicle operation as required. Recording of fuel transactions, usage. Updating the service and maintenance schedules weekly. Daily communication, planning and implementation of snow removal for parking lots and roads. Answering radios or telephones promptly to ensure open communication to vehicle maintenance department. Maintaining inventory and ensuring minimum spares are always on hand Ensuring the shop area is kept clean and shop tools and materials are returned to their proper locations at the end of jobs or shifts. Assisting in emergency situations as requested.
