Traffic Control Agent Job Summary: The Agent sets and operates the traffic pattern to ensure safety on the work site. Reports To: Field Supervisor/Operations Manager The Traffic Control Agent works with construction teams to ensure that vehicles and pedestrians do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. Candidates must be certified in basic traffic safety techniques and are required to have demonstrated proficiency as an Agent. The Traffic Control Agent must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not cause a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic Control Agent must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory. The Agent's principal activities are coordinating with on-site foremen, performing traffic control and flagging duties at assigned job sites, including setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary work zones. Driving or traveling from the employee’s home to the job site (or, if applicable, assigned meeting location) and from the job site (or, if applicable, assigned meeting location) to the employee’s home, whether in a personal or company vehicle, is not a principal activity of this position and constitutes non-compensable commuting time. Responsibilities: · Be proficient in all Agent activities · Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, and traffic cones, according to WATCM · Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site · Complete and submit all necessary paperwork before leaving the last job site · Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with company policy · Ensure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems · Coordinate work operations with on-site foreman · Review start time and address of job site or meeting location (if applicable) as established and sent by office scheduler via company app · Drive the company vehicle in a safe manner when commuting to and from job sites, if employee chooses to use a company vehicle for commuting · Read and understand safety manual and employee handbook · Other job duties as assigned Requirements: · Must be 18 years of age or older · Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred (mandatory for employees who elect to use a company vehicle to commute) · Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule · Excellent communication skills · Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain · Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required · The position does not allow for frequent breaks · Be able to lift 50 pounds · Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties · Have reliable transportation to and from job sites. All employees are permitted to drive their own vehicles to the job site or assigned meeting location. Driving of, or riding with, crew members to and from the job site or assigned meeting location, whether in a personal or company vehicle, is voluntary carpooling for the convenience of the employees. * Ability to pass the “Traffic Control Agent” course, and any other course as required by the company. Any Signer/Agent who fails to follow the guidelines listed above can be subject to demotion to the position of “TCP” with the requisite pay reduction. Equal Employment Opportunities Employer
