Senior Aerospace Stress Engineer Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Company: Cyient Experience: 10+ Years Job Description Cyient is looking for an experienced Senior Aerospace Stress Engineer to support structural analysis, substantiation, and certification activities for new and existing aircraft programs. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in aircraft structural stress analysis, finite element modelling, classical hand calculations, fatigue and damage tolerance, along with a solid understanding of aerospace certification requirements. Key Responsibilities Perform detailed and global finite element analysis (DFEM/GFEM) to support aircraft structural design, modifications, repairs, and certification. Conduct and validate classical hand calculations for static strength, fatigue, and damage tolerance. Analyze aircraft structures including fuselage, wings, empennage, nacelles, landing gear attachment areas, and interiors. Develop and review structural analysis models, including mesh refinement, boundary conditions, load application, and results interpretation. Collaborate with Design, Loads, Materials, Manufacturing, and Liaison Engineering teams to ensure structural integrity and manufacturability. Prepare and review stress reports, structural substantiation packages, compliance documentation, and certification deliverables. Support aircraft certification activities and coordinate with FAA, EASA, TCCA, DARs/DERs, as applicable. Apply classical aerospace stress methods using references such as Bruhn, Niu, Roark, and other established engineering methodologies. Support the development and maintenance of engineering tools, templates, spreadsheets, scripts, and best practices for stress analysis. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and analysts. Support analysis of existing/legacy aircraft structures, modifications, repairs, and structural improvements where required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 10+ years of experience in aerospace/aircraft structural stress analysis. Strong experience with DFEM and GFEM. Hands-on experience with one or more FEM tools such as: NASTRAN Patran HyperMesh FEMAP ANSYS Strong knowledge of classical hand calculations and aircraft structural analysis methods. Experience with static strength, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis. Knowledge of FAR/CS Part 25 certification requirements. Experience preparing stress reports and structural substantiation documentation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting FAA, EASA, or TCCA certification activities. Experience working with DARs/DERs or certification authorities. Experience with legacy aircraft structures, modifications, repairs, and configuration-controlled environments. Exposure to composite structures, weight optimization, or crashworthiness. Experience with Python, MATLAB, Excel/VBA, or other engineering automation tools. Knowledge of PLM systems such as ENOVIA or SmarTeam. Experience working in a multidisciplinary aerospace engineering environment.
