Company Description Runaway Fire & Safety Inc. is a life safety service provider supporting clients with code-required testing and maintenance of critical systems. The company services and repairs fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting, extinguishers, security systems, and video surveillance. As an authorized Autocall distributor, Runaway Fire & Safety offers equipment and service solutions to building owners and contractors. The team also assists and guides contractors with proper installation of fire alarm equipment from any brand to meet safety and compliance standards. 24-hour service is available to ensure reliable support whenever safety issues arise. Role Description This full-time, on-site Fire Alarm Technician role is based in Wetaskiwin, AB. The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems and other life safety equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting and repairing system faults, completing detailed service reports, and communicating findings and recommendations to clients and supervisors. The role also involves assisting with installation, configuration, and commissioning of fire alarm systems, including Autocall and other brands, and supporting contractors with technical guidance. Occasional after-hours or emergency service work may be required to respond to urgent life safety needs. Qualifications Strong technical skills in inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment. Knowledge of applicable fire, building, and electrical codes, standards, and best practices for life safety systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation. Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing system issues and implementing solutions. Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting work, preparing reports, and interacting with clients and team members. Capability to work safely on-site, including use of ladders, tools, and test equipment, and adherence to health and safety procedures. Relevant industry training or certification (e.g., fire alarm technician certification, electrical or electronics training) is an asset. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to client sites in and around Wetaskiwin, AB. Previous experience in fire protection, building systems, or a related technical field is preferred. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and respond to occasional after-hours service requests.
