Job ID: 26-25488 Job Title: Junior Financial Analyst Location: Edmonton, AB/Onsite Duration: 123 business days with possible extension Client: Public Sector Pay Rate: CAD $30/hr - $35/hr Must have: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, IT, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards or equivalent. Experience with full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, month-end processes, financial reporting, and account reconciliations. Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial data analysis. Experience processing and analyzing financial transactions while ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial data. Experience with Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, accruals, and trial balance accounts. Experience identifying financial discrepancies, investigating errors, and supporting variance analysis. Experience with SAP Finance (FI), including financial postings, invoice processing, and integration points with procurement and supply chain. Experience applying financial audit, financial controls, reconciliation, or financial systems governance principles within ERP implementation, data migration, or data conversion projects. Pursuing CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and attention-to-detail skills. Role and Responsibilities: Prepare journal entries and support full-cycle accounting activities. Assist with month-end closing processes, financial reporting, and account reconciliations. Perform bank reconciliations and review financial transactions for accuracy and completeness. Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, business partner maintenance, and capital asset maintenance activities. Review and analyze accruals, trial balance accounts, and other financial accounts to identify discrepancies and abnormalities. Conduct variance analysis and investigate unusual or inconsistent financial transactions. Analyze and interpret financial information to support business and financial decision-making. Support budgeting and forecasting activities by gathering and validating financial information from business entities. Utilize SAP Finance (FI) for financial postings, invoice processing, and related financial transactions. Apply financial controls, audit, reconciliation, and data governance principles to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information. Support financial activities associated with ERP implementations, data migration, data conversion, or financial systems projects. Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and analysis using advanced Microsoft Excel. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of more efficient financial processes. Collaborate with internal business partners and stakeholders to gather, validate, and disseminate financial information. Support the team with diverse financial operations and other accounting and financial analysis activities as required.
