Compensation At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The hourly pay range for this position is $21.50 - $29.40. Individual pay within this range is determined by several compensable factors, including the year of study, type of academic program, and the number of prior co-op work terms completed. This position is entitled to a $1 shift premium amount per hour. Join Our Team as an Assistant CNC Operator - Afternoon Shift (Co-op)! The Assistant CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and performing basic maintenance of the CNC machine, following work orders to produce parts for our units according to S&C Safety Procedures and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: * Set up, adjust and operate CNC machine according to work orders and specifications. * Responsible for set up with minor program. * Use manual pump trucks, cranes (over head / jib) and lift devices as required to move material and finished product(s). * Monitor machine operation and perform trouble shooting tactics when necessary. * Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans and verify correct run quantities. * Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform inspections as required. * Optimize the running of parts to best take advantage of the machine’s operating time. * Filling out production boards with output for the shift as well as assisting in planning afternoon shift production. * Maintain cleanliness of work area and follow organizational practices. * Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of the work environment. * Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required. * Other duties as assigned. * Perform all his duties following Health and Safety procedures, including but not limited to wear PPE, follow sanitization routines, etc. What you’ll Need To Succeed: * Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. * Enrolled and eligible for a 4 month Co-op work term starting in Winter 2027 (Jan. - Apr.) * Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment considered an asset. * Previous experience as a CNC Machine Operator considered an asset. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints. * Ability to use caliper, micrometer, go no-go gauges, etc. * Excellent mechanical/mathematical aptitude and manual dexterity. * Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment. * Attention to detail. * Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles considered an asset. Physical Effort: • Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking. • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs. • Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km). • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs. • Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs. • Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs. • Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes. • Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees. • Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs. Work Environment: Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging working conditions as part of everyday expected levels (all jobs will occasionally experience undesirable or disagreeable events).
