Automation Developer – Senior Client: Ministry of Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) Work Model: 100% Onsite – Toronto, Ontario We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Automation Developer to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-scale test automation solutions supporting digital transformation initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands-on automation expert with deep experience in Playwright, test automation framework architecture, Power Automate RPA, AI-powered testing, and CI/CD integration. Position Overview The Senior Automation Developer will be responsible for designing and implementing modern automation frameworks that improve software quality, testing efficiency, and continuous delivery. Working closely with QA, Development, DevOps, and business stakeholders, the consultant will develop reusable automation assets, implement enterprise automation standards, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and support AI-driven quality engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine strong software development expertise with automation architecture, accessibility compliance, API testing, performance testing, and robotic process automation technologies. Key Responsibilities Test Automation Architecture & Framework Development (40%) Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright. Develop reusable automation libraries, templates, and shared components. Implement architecture patterns including: Page Object Model (POM) Modular Frameworks Hybrid Automation Frameworks Create and maintain automation scripts using TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar technologies. Develop automated testing solutions for: Web UI APIs Performance testing Accessibility compliance Integrate automated testing into enterprise CI/CD pipelines. Leverage AI-powered testing capabilities such as intelligent test generation, self-healing scripts, and automated reporting. Automation Strategy & Governance (25%) Define and execute enterprise automation roadmaps and adoption strategies. Establish automation standards, best practices, and governance models. Develop automation metrics and dashboards to measure: Test coverage Execution efficiency Defect detection rates Lead continuous improvement initiatives across QA processes. Optimize automation frameworks for scalability, maintainability, and long-term sustainability. RPA, Machine Learning & Enterprise Automation (15%) Design and implement end-to-end automation solutions using: Microsoft Power Automate (Cloud & Desktop) Robotics Process Automation (RPA) AI Builder Process Mining technologies Develop and integrate Machine Learning models for intelligent automation. Configure OCR, Form Recognizer, information extraction, and document processing solutions. Integrate automation with: Power BI Enterprise databases APIs External business applications Technical Leadership & Team Enablement (10%) Provide technical leadership across multiple automation initiatives. Mentor QA engineers and developers on automation best practices. Deliver automation training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops. Support automation adoption across enterprise teams. Assist with automation resource planning and capability development. Collaboration, Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement (10%) Collaborate with QA, Development, DevOps, and business teams throughout the SDLC. Participate in automation planning, pilot implementations, and rollout activities. Produce Solution Design Documents (SDDs), technical documentation, and knowledge repositories. Manage multiple concurrent automation initiatives while meeting project timelines and quality objectives.
