Senior Full Stack Software Developer We are hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Developer to support the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement in designing, developing, modernizing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications within the Ontario Public Service environment. The successful candidate will have extensive full-stack development experience across Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, EJB, Struts, Web Services, XML, Angular, Node.js, Oracle, PL/SQL, IBM WebSphere, DevOps, and database development, with strong experience working with both legacy and modern application environments. This role requires the ability to lead development activities across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), modernize legacy applications in accordance with Ontario Public Service standards, develop user interfaces and backend components, perform database development and migration, resolve defects and vulnerabilities, and collaborate closely with business analysts, QA teams, architects, and other technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Full Stack Application Development Lead development activities for assigned application components, including design, coding, documentation, integration, unit testing, and defect resolution. Design, develop, and code application components, database connections, web interfaces, and prototypes/proof-of-concepts. Develop user-interface web applications enabling ministry staff to maintain and correct data within data stores. Develop backend services and application components using Java/J2EE and related technologies. Develop and maintain web services, APIs, XML-based integrations, and enterprise application components. Work with modern and legacy applications and support modernization initiatives in accordance with Ontario Public Service mandates, standards, guidelines, and recommendations. Implement enhancements, resolve application defects, and provide technical solutions for existing systems. Work across multiple projects and prioritize development activities based on business and project requirements. Java, Web & Backend Development Develop and maintain enterprise applications using technologies including: Java / J2EE EJB Struts Spring Boot Web Services XML Angular Node.js DevOps tools Apply appropriate software architecture, design patterns, coding standards, and development practices. Develop Internet-ready applications and web-based solutions. Design and implement application components using current development frameworks and technologies. Troubleshoot application, integration, performance, and availability issues. Work with technical teams to identify performance and availability issues and implement appropriate solutions. Database Development & Data Migration Design and develop database connections and application components. Develop SQL queries, scripts, and application components to migrate source data to destination/target databases. Perform database development using Oracle and PL/SQL. Work with relational and hierarchical database technologies. Develop and maintain database schemas and related application components. Extract and analyze usable information from Oracle Forms/Reports applications. Apply strong understanding of Oracle Forms/Reports and Oracle Application Suite environments. Develop and execute database queries and scripts to support application functionality and data migration. Software Development Lifecycle & Solution Delivery Lead development activities throughout the complete SDLC, including: Requirements analysis Application design Development and coding Unit testing Acceptance testing Defect resolution Implementation Post-implementation support Work closely with Business Analysts and QA Analysts to ensure application code satisfies business and system requirements. Participate in requirements analysis, user acceptance testing, implementation, and production support. Review, evaluate, and provide technical input on project deliverables and documentation. Provide recommendations regarding solution design, coding approaches, technical impacts, and available options. Provide accurate development estimates for new functionality and enhancements. Review estimates prepared by other team members for completeness and accuracy. Testing, Quality Assurance & Defect Resolution Perform coding, testing, and debugging for assigned application components. Execute unit, functional, regression, load, and performance testing as required. Provide defect resolution throughout the development and acceptance testing cycles. Lead development activities during defect resolution cycles. Ensure application components are thoroughly tested before release. Investigate and resolve technical defects and post-implementation issues. Work with QA teams to ensure application quality and compliance with approved requirements. Provide defect-free code releases in accordance with applicable development standards. Deployment & Release Management Prepare code drop and release deployment packages for production implementation. Coordinate code deployments across test, staging, and production environments. Document deployment specifications, procedures, and related technical information. Obtain required approvals from the client or Cluster Application Architect before implementing code changes. Ensure source code, database schemas, application components, and release documentation are complete and properly documented. Obtain acceptance, approval, and sign-off from the Cluster and project team for assigned deliverables. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer Document solution designs, source code, deployment specifications, application procedures, and technical processes. Prepare documentation required for transition to operations and ongoing Ministry support. Provide user and system documentation as required. Maintain documentation supporting application supportability and operational transition. Conduct design walkthroughs and knowledge-transfer sessions with project teams. Ensure all artifacts and deliverables comply with applicable Government of Ontario Information Technology Standards (GO ITS). Agile Delivery & Stakeholder Collaboration Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and regular project team meetings. Provide status updates, identify risks and issues, and make technical recommendations. Lead workshops, demonstrations, walkthroughs, and other technical sessions when required. Facilitate meetings and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders. Work closely with IT professionals, Business Analysts, QA Analysts, architects, and subject matter experts throughout the SDLC.
