Summary Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre requires a permanent full-time Communications Consultant. The position will be located in Regina, Kenaston or Saskatoon. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, this position will be responsible for preparing strategic communications in a variety of formats to promote awareness of Sask DLC services and programs. This includes assisting in planning, preparing, and implementation of internal and external communications projects and development of a wide variety of communication material. Focused on delivering the highest level of customer service, this position will support collaboration with internal and external stakeholders of Sask DLC to ensure we provide creative and strategic communication to promote Sask DLC programs and services. Primary Responsibilities * Provide strategic communications advisement to Sask DLC senior leadership in collaboration with Communications Manager and Executive Director of Communications. * Create, implement and evaluate strategic communication plans that will help create awareness of Sask DLC’s services and programs. * Create a range of internal and external communication products including writing news releases, speeches, key messages, web content, social media content and creating digital and video communication materials. * Plan and execute public media events. * Work independently and as part of a communications team to support Sask DLC’s internal and external communications and marketing activities. * Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Communications or assigned designate * Contribute to identifying new and creative ways to enhance the visibility reputation, and positioning of Sask DLC. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * Knowledge of public sector K-12 education is desired. * Excellent oral and written communication and editing skills. * The ability to communicate information visually, verbally, and in writing, to a variety of audiences that persuades, builds support, educates and promotes understanding. * An in-depth knowledge of strategic communications theories and principles with experience designing and implementing strategic communications plans. * Plan and balance diverse and conflicting workload pressures, accomplishing assigned tasks within established time frames and budget. * Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and maintain positive, proactive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve corporate / organization priorities and outcomes. * A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license is required as occasional travel within the province will be required. Required Education and Experience * Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English or a related field of study. * A minimum of 5 years’ experience with a proven professional record working in the field of communication, or equivalent experience in a similar role. Employment Conditions * Office environment/setting. * Typical core office hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Monday to Friday. * Travel as required. * As with all positions, the Communications Consultant, demonstrates an attitude of safety by always ensuring safety of self and others within the workplace.
