We remain proudly determined. *Job Purpose* The Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Technician supports the delivery of Saulteau First Nations' Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program by developing maps, maintaining spatial data, conducting field data collection, and providing GIS analysis to support land and resource management, community planning, environmental stewardship, and Treaty Rights. Working under the direction of the GIS Supervisor, the GIS Technician develops and maintains GIS databases, creates maps and GIS applications, performs spatial analysis, and provides technical support for departmental projects. The position works collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to ensure accurate, reliable, and high-quality spatial information is available to support organizational decision-making. *Duties & Responsibilities* *Program and Department Administration* * Provides scripting and analytical support to SFN geomatic operations. * Operates GIS software to update maps and spatial data related to land use referrals, Traditional Land Use Studies (TLUS), comprehensive community planning, land use planning, and other departmental projects. * Ensures cartographic standards and principles are followed in the production of topographic and thematic maps and digital mapping applications. * Supports grant applications by preparing maps, statistics, and visual materials. * Performs GIS database management, including quality assurance, data maintenance, data cleaning, and metadata creation. * Develops and maintains GIS applications. * Conducts spatial analysis and prepares reports to support cumulative effects assessments, environmental stewardship, Treaty Rights, and community planning. * Produces maps, reports, and other GIS products. * Maintains current knowledge of GIS technology, software, and industry best practices. * Assists Referral Coordinators by providing GIS analysis and recommendations. * Collects spatial data using drones, GPS equipment, Field Maps, Survey123, Collector, and other GIS applications. * Performs utility mapping. * Develops and maintains GIS web applications. * Develops and maintains base maps. * Completes survey mapping for lands, Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE), additions to reserve, housing, and lot development. * Performs AutoCAD conversions (DWG and other file formats). * Supports drone projects, including the collection and maintenance of data for the Guardian Program. * Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and coordinates with government agencies, consultants, organizations, and internal departments as required. * Prepares monthly summaries outlining activities, achievements, commitments, and outstanding issues. * Maintains GIS equipment and related field equipment. * Supports emergency response mapping and spatial analysis, including wildfire and flood response activities. *Other Related Duties* * Participates actively as a Saulteau First Nations representative in collaborative partner networks and community activities. * Participates in all SFN-sponsored community events as required. * Performs other related duties as assigned. *Ideal Qualifications Experience* * Diploma in Geographic Information Systems or a combination of related training and experience with minimum of two (2) years ethical GIS experience, and the ability to read, understand, interpret and apply Treaty Rights in a GIS. * Valid BC Driver's Licence. * Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. *Ideal Knowledge, Skills & Abilities* * Advanced understanding of raster and vector formats, topology and topography pri
