Summary: The intent of this position is to establish long-term relationships with customers to pursue grain origination. This position will target customers and develop effective pricing strategies and promotions, represent the company at the farm level, and play a key role in planning logistics to meet the needs of customers and Bartlett facilities. Responsibilities: Develop and implement an origination strategy for the territory. Effectively grow the grain business through a targeted approach to customers, maintaining regular contact with customers through on farm meetings, phone calls and other means of communication. Participate in farm shows, networking activities, and complete cold calls. Develop and maintain effective business relationships with current and prospective customers. Effectively utilize customer relationship management tools. Understand customers grain marketing needs and collaborate in developing solutions. Actively promote and establish farmer grain marketing programs. Purchase grain and collaborate with operations and merchandising staff to ensure logistical execution. Collect grain samples from growers to understand quality and facilitate merchandising programs. Provide timely service, marketing options, contracting options and advice to current and potential customers. Monitor crop conditions and communicate effectively with origination and merchandising teams. Comply with contract and risk management practices including but not limited to contract signature and execution. Maintain accurate and detailed records. Participate in daily forecasting and strategizing of sales and marketing efforts. Monitor customer and competitor activity. Collaborate with our regenerative ag team in identifying and working with customers. Adhere to company safety policies and procedures and be willing to enforce them with other employees and visitors. Qualifications: Required Successful completion of Certificate in Agriculture, Agri-Business certificate, or equivalent post-secondary education. A combination of education and experience that provides the required level of competency, skills and abilities may be considered. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Canadian grain industry including marketing, operations, transportation & crop production. Familiarity with futures markets and hedging. Demonstrated experience in negotiation and risk management. Strong communication & interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently to solve problems. Ability to prioritize on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Advanced math and computer skills. Strong work ethic and willingness to work extra hours when required. Must be proficient with MS Office programs. Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license. Preferred Experience with production agriculture is preferred. Familiarity with customer database programs.
