Résumé du poste

Company Description Shift Coastal Technologies Ltd. delivers operational assurance in the littoral battlespace by integrating platforms, sensors, payloads, effectors, autonomy software, communications, and command infrastructure into mission-ready coastal systems. The company turns autonomous technology into operational capability by providing platforms, integration, field services, and sustainment. Its uncrewed surface vessels are built on 100% Canadian-developed technology, intellectual property, and ownership, combining a multi-mission open platform with real-time coastal intelligence. These systems enhance ISR, logistics agility, environmental awareness, and threat response while being sustained through reliable in-service support to ensure mission continuity. Shift Coastal Technologies is focused on the full lifecycle of capability: design, build, integrate, deploy, and sustain. Role Description The Senior Autonomy Professional is a full-time, on-site role located in Canada, responsible for leading the development, integration, and optimization of autonomy solutions for uncrewed surface vessels and coastal systems. This role involves designing and refining autonomy algorithms, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and ensuring seamless integration of sensors, payloads, communications, and command systems into mission-ready platforms. The Senior Autonomy Professional will conduct testing, validation, and performance analysis of autonomous behaviors in simulated and real-world environments, and will contribute to safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance for autonomous operations. Day-to-day work includes technical leadership, mentorship of junior team members, documentation of designs and test results, and close coordination with operations and field services teams to support deployment and sustainment of autonomous capabilities. Qualifications Strong expertise in autonomous systems, robotics, or control engineering, with experience in path planning, perception, and decision-making algorithms. Proficiency in software development for autonomy (e.g., C++, Python, ROS or similar middleware) and familiarity with real-time systems or embedded platforms. Experience integrating sensors and payloads (e.g., radar, EO/IR, AIS, GNSS, LiDAR) into autonomous platforms and processing sensor data for situational awareness. Background in systems engineering, including requirements definition, system architecture, interface design, and integration of complex multi-domain systems. Experience with testing and validation of autonomous systems, including simulation tools, field trials, performance analysis, and safety assurance practices. Relevant post-secondary degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical field; advanced degree or equivalent experience is an asset. Ability to work on-site in Canada, collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with maritime or defense domains, coastal operations, or uncrewed surface vessels is highly beneficial.
