Role Description ShipTop is looking for a Licensed Customs Broker to manage customs compliance for goods imported into Canada on behalf of our clients. This role is responsible for accurate tariff classification, valuation, and duty/tax calculation, as well as ensuring all import documentation meets CBSA requirements. This is a critical compliance role — accuracy and up-to-date regulatory knowledge matter, as errors can result in delayed shipments, penalties, or audits. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of compliance while also being a responsive, solutions-oriented partner to our operations team and clients. Responsibilities • Prepare and submit accurate customs declarations for goods imported into Canada • Review tariff classification (HS codes), valuation, and applicable duties/taxes • Review and verify import documentation for accuracy and completeness • Manage CBSA release processes, including PARS/RMD submissions, and resolve customs holds or examinations • Advise clients and internal teams on import regulations, trade compliance requirements, and duty relief programs (e.g., CUSMA/USMCA, duty drawback) • Maintain accurate, audit-ready records in line with CBSA recordkeeping requirements • Monitor regulatory changes affecting tariffs, trade agreements, and import compliance • Coordinate with freight forwarders and drayage partners to ensure timely release and delivery of cargo Qualifications • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation or CBSA customs broker license • Prior experience working as a licensed customs broker or in a customs brokerage environment • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Customs Tariff, CBSA regulations, and trade agreements (CUSMA/USMCA and others) • Experience with tariff classification, valuation methods, and duty/tax calculation • Familiarity with CBSA systems and processes (e.g., CARM, PARS/RMD, AMPS) • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and CBSA correspondence • Experience in eCommerce, 3PL, or freight forwarding is an asset • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in International Trade, Business, or a related field preferred
