The Kitchen Assistant is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection. This is a Casual (On-Call) position. We are looking for someone who would be available any of the below days and times: * 7:30am-11:30am Monday – Friday * 7:00am – 3:30pm Sat. & Sun * 10:00am – 6:30pm Mon. – Sun * 10:30am – 7:30pm Mon. – Sun. As a Kitchen Assistant your typical day will impact in the following ways: * Dishwashing and serving. * Clearing tables, take out garbage, recycling, vacuuming * Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation. * Receiving, checking and storing food and supply deliveries in accordance with food safety standards, Health and Safety standards and prescribed practices. * Monitoring quality and quantity of food supplies received and advises the team leader on duty of problems. * Reporting food, supply, and equipment needs to the team leader. * Assisting with the delivery, set-up and removal of food for special events, buffets and catered functions. * Completing assigned cleaning tasks according to instructions and cleaning schedules. * Performing other duties as assigned. Must haves: * Minimum Grade 12 education. * Minimum one year experience in Dishwashing and/or Serving. * Must have a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate. * Must have a valid Serve it Right Certificate. * Must possess good public relations and communication skills. * Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence. * Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for the majority of the shift. * All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
