The Administrative Coordinator provides a range of administrative, operational, program, and project support for the Faculty of Applied Sciences – Office of the Dean, with a particular focus on programs and initiatives that support student services, engagement, and the overall student experience across the Faculty. The position works across both SFU Surrey and SFU Burnaby campuses and requires occasional evening and weekend work. The Coordinator provides administrative support, information, and guidance to Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS) students and contributes to the planning, coordination, and delivery of programs and initiatives that support student engagement, success, retention, recruitment, and connection to the Faculty. Working collaboratively with program leaders and other Faculty partners, the Coordinator supports the development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of student-focused programs and activities that respond to the needs of FAS students and identified student populations. About the Role The Administrative Coordinator provides a range of administrative, operations and project support for the Faculty of Applied Sciences – Office of the Dean. The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Office of the Dean, providing confidential administration support, supporting the administrative activities and processes related to the academic personnel appointment process and managing the facility and operational requirements within the Faculty. The successful candidate will be a highly organized and service-oriented professional with experience supporting programs, operations, and student-focused initiatives in a complex environment. They will demonstrate sound judgment in interpreting and applying policies and procedures, handling sensitive or complex matters, and communicating effectively with students and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be skilled at coordinating multiple priorities, identifying and resolving operational issues, supporting the development and implementation of programs and procedures, and working collaboratively with program leaders and colleagues to enhance student engagement, service delivery, and the overall student experience. Full Job Description Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and two years of related experience, including project management or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Excellent planning and project coordination skills. Ability to handle highly confidential information and material with discretion. Ability to exercise mature judgment, initiative, diplomacy and tact.
