Job Title: Payroll Clerk Reporting directly to the Payroll Administrator, the Payroll Clerk will primarily be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, and providing support to employees regarding payroll-related matters. This role will utilize our system and technology to create efficiencies for our organization. We are a cohesive team at Skeena, focused on building value and we pride ourselves on being innovative. Responsibilities (including but not limited to): * Assist in preparing and processing of full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for 450+ employees (salary & hourly) accurately and on time. * Verify employee hours worked in the system and resolve any discrepancies promptly prior to transmission to ensure accuracy of all information in a timely manner. * Administer monthly benefits reconciliation to ensure taxable benefits are accurately recorded for T4 purposes. * Process Records of Employment and submit electronically to Service Canada. * Act as the first point of contact for payroll queries. * Assist with year-end procedures, including internal and external audits, to ensure all payroll-related activities are properly documented. * Support the preparation of semi-monthly payroll journal entries. * Assist in preparing and ensuring payroll related remittances and filings are completed in a timely manner including EHT, WCB, and taxes. * Follow the Employment Standards Act and company policies when processing payroll. * Seek opportunities to improve payroll processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, effectiveness. * Perform other duties as required. Additional Responsibilities * All other duties as reasonably assigned. The Ideal Candidate Education / Qualifications: * Post-secondary education in accounting, payroll, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience / Skills * Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation or actively working towards one is an asset. * Proficiency in UKG payroll software (or similar) and Microsoft Excel is a strong asset. * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. * Strong organization and time-management skills. * Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and care. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong ability to problem-solve and address concerns in a timely manner. Work Location & Conditions This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule and 3–4 days per week working in the office. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered. Compensation The expected salary range for this position is CAD $60,000 - $65,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
