SUMMARY The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to the restaurant’s recipes and standards. The Cook works closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery, contributing to a seamless and efficient kitchen operation. Strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this position. BENEFITS & PERKS * Starting Pay: $22-$24 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. * Dental and Vision Insurance: Available after 60 days * Health Insurance: Available to eligible full-time employees after 1 year * Transportation Benefits: Free RTD EcoPass or employee parking reimbursement * Additional Benefits: EAP, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and Life Insurance options * 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan: Available after 6 months * Employee Discount: Available at Skyport restaurant and retail locations * Paid Leave: Provided in accordance with applicable Colorado and federal law AVAILABLE SHIFTS: AM: 6 AM - 2 PM PM: 2 PM - 10 PM PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to restaurant recipes and menu specifications. * Ensure all food is cooked and presented in a timely manner and meets the restaurant's quality standards. * Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas. * Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment. * Assist in the preparation and portioning of ingredients for use in cooking. * Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens, fryers, and mixers safely and efficiently. * Monitor food stock levels and communicate shortages to the kitchen manager or supervisor. * Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely service. * Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper storage procedures are followed. * Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils. * Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES * Genuine interest in providing a positive guest experience * Ability to work well with others and support a positive work environment * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment * Dependable * Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays * Ability to follow all guidelines and procedures set forth by FMS/Skyport, brand partners, airport, federal, state, and local employment regulations * Strong communication skills and ability to handle stressful situations * Ability to use basic math; e.g., addition, subtraction, and basic fractions * Must successfully complete required airport security and background screening, including a federal background check. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. * 1+ year of experience as a cook in a full-service restaurant * ServSafe Certified a plus WORKING ENVIRONMENT Airport: This position operates in a climate-controlled international airport environment. The temperature, volume of noise, and exposure to the public are outside the control of First Meridian Services, Inc. The position requires use of public spaces as provided by the airport. Restaurant: This position may require frequent exposure to a restaurant or retail operation environment. Regular exposure to varying temperatures (hot/cold/freezing), fumes, vapors, industrial restaurant equipment, noise, and guests will be a common occurrence. The nature of restaurant work requires the Cook to possess certain physical abilities. Those listed here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform this job. Most of the workday is spent standing or walking and working in close proximity to others. Eye-hand coordination, depth perception, finger dexterity, and functional vision and speech perception are required. Some bending, crouching, pushing/pulling and lifting/lowering of 20-50 lbs. Some repetitive motions with hands, wrists, or arms. Must be able to operate all equipment used in the restaurant. Some exposure to skin irritants, electrical equipment, and sharp instruments. Risk to these exposures is minimized by strict adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures.
