SLB is seeking a motivated, hands-on, and safety-focused individual to join our Artificial Lift team as a Field Engineer Trainee based in Edmonton, Alberta. In this field-based role, you will support the installation, retrieval, start-up, and troubleshooting of Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) systems at customer locations across Western Canada. Working alongside experienced field personnel, customers, and rig crews, you will gain practical experience in artificial lift operations while applying engineering principles to support safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery. We are looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving technical challenges, and combining engineering knowledge with hands-on field operations. This role offers a structured training program, extensive field exposure, and the opportunity to develop technical expertise in artificial lift systems while building a long-term career with SLB. Roles And Responsibilities Support the installation, retrieval, start-up, and troubleshooting of Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) systems. Apply engineering principles to support field operations and resolve technical challenges at customer sites. Monitor equipment performance and assist in identifying opportunities to improve system reliability and operational efficiency. Collaborate with field specialists, customers, and rig crews to ensure safe and successful execution of wellsite operations. Follow standard operating procedures, technical guidelines, and safety requirements to deliver high-quality service. Assist with equipment inspections, maintenance activities, and operational readiness of field equipment. Complete accurate field documentation, technical reports, and service records in a timely manner. Identify operational risks and contribute to a strong safety culture in all activities. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation of new technologies and processes. Develop technical and operational expertise through structured training, mentorship, and field assignments. Qualifications And Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline. 0-3 years of experience; internship, co-op, or field experience will be considered an asset. Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on field operations. Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently while following established procedures and seeking support when required. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Willingness to travel and work a rotational field schedule. Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to travel internationally for extended periods to attend required training programs. Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada without company sponsorship.
