This role is based in our Vancouver office, with the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment following the completion of the probationary period. The Opportunity As an Assurance Senior Manager, you will work closely with Partners and clients to deliver Assurance, Advisory, and Tax services to privately held businesses across a wide range of industries. You will serve as a trusted advisor to business owners and executives while providing leadership to engagement teams and contributing to the ongoing development of the practice. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking to play a meaningful role in shaping client success, team development, and firm growth. In this role, you will: * Lead Assurance, Advisory, and Tax engagements for private company clients, including review engagements, compilations, and corporate and personal tax planning matters * Provide strategic business and financial advice to clients, helping them navigate growth, operational challenges, and key business decisions * Manage engagement planning, budgeting, staffing, and delivery to ensure high-quality client service and efficient execution * Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand services and deepen client partnerships * Collaborate with Partners on business development initiatives, proposals, and new client opportunities * Mentor, coach, and develop Senior Accountants, and Accountants through ongoing feedback, technical guidance, and career development support * Review financial statements, tax filings, and client deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with professional standards * Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and exceptional client service What You Bring * CPA designation * Minimum 8+ years of public practice experience, including at least 3 years in a management role * Strong technical expertise in assurance, private company advisory services, and tax compliance * Demonstrated experience managing complex client engagements and multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment * Proven success developing and maintaining long-term client relationships and identifying business development opportunities * Experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams * Strong business acumen and the ability to provide practical, value-added advice beyond compliance requirements * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to present complex financial matters clearly and effectively * Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities * A collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client-focused approach Additional Requirements * Ability to work from our Vancouver office, with a hybrid schedule available following probation * Availability to work additional hours during peak periods * Commitment to maintaining a consistent work schedule to support client and team needs Why Smythe?
