Civil/Structural Engineering Co-op Student Oscar Renda Contracting Project: NEWPCC Biosolids Facility (Winnipeg, MB) Term: Fall 2026 (September – December) About the Project Oscar Renda Contracting is seeking a motivated Civil/Structural Engineering co-op student to join our team on the North End Sewage Treatment Plant (NEWPCC) Biosolids Facility project in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This is a major capital infrastructure project involving the design and construction of new biosolids processing facilities as part of the City of Winnipeg's wastewater treatment upgrades. Position Overview As a Civil/Structural Engineering Co-op Student, you will work alongside our site engineering team to support construction activities, quality control, and field engineering for this large-scale treatment plant project. Responsibilities - Assist with reviewing structural and civil drawings, specifications, and shop drawings - Support quality control and quality assurance activities for concrete, structural steel, and civil works - Conduct field inspections and document construction progress - Assist with material take-offs, quantity tracking, and progress reporting - Support RFI (Request for Information) tracking and coordination with design engineers - Help maintain as-built documentation and project records - Participate in site safety meetings and adhere to all site safety protocols - Assist project engineers and superintendents with day-to-day field engineering tasks - Support scheduling and coordination activities as required Qualifications - Currently enrolled in a Civil or Structural Engineering degree program (3rd or 4th year preferred) - Strong understanding of structural and civil engineering fundamentals (concrete, steel, foundations) - Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D considered an asset - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Effective written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team - Willingness to work on an active heavy civil construction site - Valid driver's license considered an asset Work Term Details - Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba (on-site at the NEWPCC facility) - Duration: Fall semester, September – December 2026 (4 months) - Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday (occasional weekend work may be required based on construction schedule) Why Join Us This co-op placement offers hands-on exposure to a large-scale municipal infrastructure project, direct mentorship from experienced civil and structural engineers, and the opportunity to gain practical field engineering experience on a heavy civil construction site.
