Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our team in Markham. This position will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple companies and Canadian provinces. The ideal candidate will have 1–2+ years of hands-on payroll experience, including experience processing multi-provincial payroll, and a strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, deductions, taxable benefits, and employment standards. Key Responsibilities Process biweekly and monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlines. Support payroll processing across multiple legal entities and Canadian provinces. Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary and wage changes, leaves, transfers, promotions, and other employment changes. Calculate and process overtime, bonuses, commissions, taxable benefits, allowances, deductions, vacation pay, and other payroll adjustments. Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with applicable provincial and federal legislation, tax requirements, and employment standards. Prepare and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to identify and resolve discrepancies. Process and maintain employee information within payroll and HRIS systems. Coordinate closely with Human Resources, Finance, and operational teams regarding employee changes, benefits, leaves, and payroll matters. Respond to employee payroll inquiries and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner. Assist with year-end payroll activities, audits, reconciliations, and reporting as required. Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll and employee information. Support process improvements and additional payroll-related projects as required. Qualifications and Skills Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on Canadian payroll experience in a Payroll Administrator, Payroll Coordinator, or similar position. Previous experience processing multi-provincial Canadian payroll is strongly preferred. Experience supporting payroll across multiple entities, locations, or business units is considered a strong asset. Experience with payroll/HRIS platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Dayforce, Payworks, or similar systems. Strong understanding of Canadian payroll practices, including statutory deductions, taxable benefits, vacation pay, overtime, and other payroll adjustments. Working knowledge of applicable federal and provincial payroll legislation and employment standards. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with payroll reports and large volumes of employee data. Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation or progress toward completion is considered an asset. Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate payroll discrepancies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-company environment. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
