Title: Junior IT Project Manager / Project Control Officer (PCO) Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid, once a week onsite) Duration: 6 Months (Possible Extension) Job Description We are looking for a Junior IT Project Manager / Project Control Officer (PCO) to support technology projects within a large financial services organization. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of project management or project coordination experience and be comfortable supporting project financials, governance, reporting, documentation, and day-to-day project activities. This is a great opportunity for someone who has worked in a banking or financial services environment and is looking to further develop their project management experience. Key Responsibilities Support the planning, coordination, and execution of technology projects from initiation through delivery. Maintain project financials, including budget tracking, forecasting, actuals, resource costs, and financial reporting. Support project governance activities, ensuring required processes, approvals, reporting, and controls are followed. Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, RAID logs, meeting minutes, action items, and project schedules. Track project milestones, deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and risks. Prepare regular project status updates and reporting for project leadership and stakeholders. Coordinate project meetings with business and technology stakeholders and follow up on action items and decisions. Maintain project repositories and ensure documentation is accurate, current, and easily accessible. Assist with identifying project risks, issues, and dependencies and support appropriate mitigation and escalation. Work closely with Project Managers, business partners, technology teams, and other stakeholders to ensure projects remain on track. Support project planning, resource tracking, and forecasting activities. Help ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and budgets. Required Skills & Experience 3-4 years of experience in Project Management, Project Coordination, Project Control, or a similar role. Experience supporting technology or IT projects. Hands-on experience with project financial management, including budget tracking, forecasting, and reporting. Experience with project governance, reporting, and maintaining project controls. Strong experience maintaining project documentation and project artifacts. Experience tracking project schedules, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across business and technology teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and project tracking/reporting tools. Experience working in an Agile or hybrid project delivery environment is an asset. Nice to Have Previous experience working in a banking or financial services organization. Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Planview, or Microsoft Project. Experience supporting large-scale technology or transformation initiatives. Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). PMP, CAPM, or other project management certification is an asset. Capital Markets experience is an asset but not required. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a junior PM/PCO with approximately 3-4 years of experience who is strong in project coordination, financial tracking, governance, reporting, and documentation. Banking experience is preferred, but candidates from other industries with strong technology project experience will also be considered.
