PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION IN SQUAMISH VALLEY CLOSES: Open Until Filled BE PART OF SOMETHING MEANINGFUL Are you a professional and safety-focused driver with a passion for serving your community? Squamish Nation is seeking a Recreation Bus Driver to join the Ta na wa Ch’awát ta Sx̱wéx̱wel Squamish Valley Operations team within Ḵ'iyáx̱ an Ch'áwch'aw Community Services. This role plays an important part in supporting Squamish Nation members by providing safe, reliable, and respectful transportation to recreational activities, community programs, events, and other approved destinations. As Bus Driver, you will help ensure members can participate in community programs and activities while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. WHAT YOU’LL DO * Safely transport passengers to and from recreational activities, social functions, events, and field trips. * Follow regularly assigned work schedules with dependability and professionalism. * Pick up passengers promptly at designated times and locations. * Drive in accordance with provincial traffic regulations and local bylaws. * Maintain an orderly, disciplined, and safe bus environment and enforce behavioural expectations. * Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required by ICBC regulations. * Perform routine engine and body maintenance on the bus. * Chaperone participants during recreation programs, outings, and events as required. * Oversee and maintain a fleet of Nation vehicles, including scheduling repairs, upkeep, inspections, and insurance renewals. * Train new Nation drivers on fleet vehicles and vehicle protocols. * Liaise and interact with guests and members during events while presenting a professional image of Squamish Nation. * Contribute cooperatively to the Squamish Valley Operations team to achieve position and department goals. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Completion of Grade 10 plus a valid Unrestricted Class 2 or Class 1 Commercial Driver's Licence. * Valid Emergency First Aid & CPR Certificate. * Minimum four (4) years of safe driving experience, verified through an ICBC Driving Record Check. * Experience working in a First Nations environment is preferred. * Professional, adaptable communication style with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others. * High level of emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity. * Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations. * Resourceful and organized with excellent time management abilities. * Ability to communicate information effectively to stakeholders in a meaningful way. * Ability to act ethically, maintain confidentiality, and deliver difficult information tactfully and diplomatically when required * Team-oriented with a positive, approachable attitude and commitment to excellent service. * Knowledge and understanding of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw history, culture, customs, land, and people is an asset.
