Position Title: Stewardship and Communications Officer Department: Advancement Position Type: Full-time Continuing Classification: MPE Band C Salary Range: $50,485.50 to $61,659 (based on 37.5 hours per week) Posting Date: July 24, 2026 Closing Date: August 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM AST POSITION DESCRIPTION St. Francis Xavier University, one of Canada’s leading universities is seeking a Stewardship & Communications Officer. Reporting to the Director, Advancement, the Stewardship & Communications Officer will support and cultivate solid relationships between the University and its donors, resulting in a long-term engagement and philanthropic support. Working in a team environment, the incumbent will contribute to various stewardship communications, including reports. Responsibilities * The collaborative development of custom stewardship plans for individual and corporate principal gift donors. Stewardship planning encompasses gift acknowledgement, recognition, and appreciation, and accountability and reporting, including overdue pledge reporting * Works with the Director, Development and liaises with Alumni, Faculty, and Advancement teams to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate stewardship plans for major donors. * Provides communications support to major gift officers in preparation for donor visits. Includes preparing donor profiles, giving history and any media information critical to the visit. * Assists the Director of Advancement to develop reports for requesting and managing data for donor communication pieces * Support ongoing efforts to leverage events organized within the university as opportunities for donor engagement and recognition and provide staff with the tools and training on how to use these events to engage donors in a meaningful way Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree, with a focus on Communications, Business, Public Relations * Three to five years relevant working experience. * Fund raising/relationship development experience is an asset * Strong writing capabilities with the specific ability to create and present written proposals, interpersonal skills, marketing experience, and has demonstrated skills and knowledge in social media and digital communications * Knowledge of fund development and related development phases (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation). Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, or Public Relations and three to five years of relevant experience. Strong writing skills and knowledge of fund development phases are required.
