Please proceed using this link: https://app.traits.com/survey/a56e7669-2ba6-4573-83cd-800831da5362 POSITION OVERVIEW: Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting an Apprentice Millwright for our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6). Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, the Apprentice Millwright will support the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment while progressing through the apprenticeship program. The role involves working with hand and power tools, reading technical drawings, and using hoisting and lifting equipment when trained and authorized. This is a physically active position that may involve lifting, standing, bending, and crouching throughout the day. A safety-focused, dependable, and motivated learner who follows instructions, applies coaching, and contributes to team goals will succeed in this role. Reports to: Assembly Supervisor Shift: 5:50 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., four days per week (10 hours per day). Overtime may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Equipment Installation & Mounting: Assist with the installation, placement, mounting, and alignment of major equipment on skids and structural supports in accordance with layout plans Verify equipment location, orientation, level, alignment, and connection points before final installation Operate hoisting and lifting equipment, including cranes and jacks, when trained and authorized, to position equipment, piping, and components Assemble mechanical equipment and components before installation using hand and power tools, as qualified and directed Pipefitting & Skid Assembly: Install piping spools and associated supports in accordance with construction drawings and specifications Lay out small-bore piping on skids, confirming routing, dimensions, and clearances before fitting Fit socket-weld and threaded (screwed) small-bore pipe and components using appropriate hand and power tools Read, interpret, and redline construction drawings and blueprints, including isometric drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement (GA) drawings Participate in project reviews with Engineering and Drafting to clarify drawings, address constructability questions, and document changes Safety, Collaboration & Development: Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment and operate equipment in accordance with established procedures Participate actively in safety initiatives, toolbox meetings, and company programs Contribute as an engaged, dependable team member who communicates positively and supports shared project goals Be receptive to coaching and work toward established goals, action plans, and project timelines Apply knowledge and skills learned from coaches and mentors to progress through and complete the apprenticeship program. QUALIFICATIONS: Registered as a Millwright apprentice, or eligible to register as one Motivated to learn and committed to completing the apprenticeship program Practical pipefitting experience or training, particularly with small-bore socket-weld and threaded piping, is preferred Ability to read, interpret, and redline isometric drawings, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and construction blueprints Tack welding experience is considered an asset Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Well-developed interpersonal skills, positive team engagement, and the ability to work effectively within a diverse workforce Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication-shop environment is considered an asset Ability to safely meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, standing, bending, and crouching Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment functional assessment and alcohol and drug testing We offer competitive wages, training, flexible, dynamic, and exciting work environment.
