Mechanical Maintenance Planner/ Shift Manager Reports to: Area Manager – Maintenance Job Location: Nanticoke – Central Maintenance Complex (CMC) Job Type: Full Time / Permanent Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000.00 Primary Purpose of Position Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance work to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe, efficient operations. At times management relief and coverage in operations of the CMC shop, related equipment, and personnel in a safe and efficient manner. This role is an existing vacancy. Provides Leadership To Bargaining Unit Personnel, Assigned Service Groups, Contractors Key Tasks & Responsibilities * Using CMMS based system to order parts, update parts lists, add/remove parts numbers. * Parts procurement needs to ensure accurate and appropriate replacement parts and in appropriate quantities. * Attend downturn meetings and schedule preventative maintenance overhauls and tasks. * Create schedules for work completion * Update/modify PM schedules, tasks and jobs. * Participate on project team with shared management responsibilities as it pertains to mechanical or as assigned. * Select contractors on tasks pertaining to project responsibilities. * Planning and execution of downturns, semi- annual outages and shop work needed for operations * Administer the company safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Operating facility * Promote safety by various means (safety contacts, safety tours, incident investigations and follow-up, SDS and JSA review, equipment condition, etc.) and leads by example * Ensure adherence to all environmental control procedures and relevant codes and standards * Apply technical principles and problem-solving techniques to evaluate and resolve equipment issues to maximize operating efficiencies * Supervise, direct and coordinate the efforts of experienced technicians, apprentices, co-ops and project planners to repair and maintain various mill equipment to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimal interruption * Use technical knowledge and maintenance history of equipment to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs * Perform administrative activities such as scheduling and paying employees, completing maintenance reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as necessary by the operating facility * Actively participate in recruitment screening and selection of prospective new hires * Establish performance goals and objectives with Day Manager/Area Manager Education/ Experience/ Qualifications * 3+ years of maintenance planning experience in a heavy industrial or shop environment * 3-5 years of maintenance experience specifically in mechanical or welding is an asset * 433A Industrial Millwright C of Q or TSSA or CWB Welding tickets is an asset * Unionized leadership experience is a strong asset Job Skills and Knowledge * Sound knowledge of welding maintenance practices and required skills * Strong oral and written communication skills * Good interpersonal and leadership skills * Strong problem-solving skills * Ability and desire to work in a shop floor environment * Proficient in MS Office * An enthusiastic approach and ability to learn quickly and assume responsibility * As a manager/supervisor of the company, qualified candidates for this role also must demonstrate the ability to manage change, communicate effectively, and lead high-performance teams. Your work environment * Fast-paced manufacturing environment for a high impact team * The job is within a heavy industrial environment and you will be required to work within various areas of the facility * Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures and guidelines must always be adhered to. This includes wearing PPE, such as a hard hat, protective ear and eye wear, respirator, flame retardant clothing and safety boots with metatarsal protection during the work shift * Lake Erie facility operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year * May be required to work straight days or shift work (12-hour shifts on a continental schedule, rotating days and nights) * On calls, vacation/ holiday and sick relief coverage is required * The position may require you to work overtime as needed * A valid driver’s license and vehicle is required to work at this facility In accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Stelco is an equal opportunity employer who is committed to providing an inclusive and barrier free recruitment and selection process.
