Shift Manager (Shift Engineer) Job Location: Nanticoke, Ontario Job Type: Full Time / Permanent Reports to: Area Manager- Operations Salary: starting at $115K, pay rate commensurate with experience and qualifications Primary Purpose of Position Maintain the safe operations of Utilities facilities, related equipment and personnel in a safe and efficient manner. Provides Leadership To Bargaining Unit Personnel, Assigned Service Groups, Contractors Key Tasks & Responsibilities Administer the company safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Operating facility Promote safety by various means (safety contacts, safety tours, incident investigations and follow-up, SDS and JSA review, equipment condition, etc.) and leads by example Ensure adherence to all environmental control procedures and relevant codes and standards Apply technical principles and problem-solving techniques to evaluate and resolve equipment issues to maximize operating efficiencies Supervise, direct and coordinate the efforts of operators and co-ops to repair and maintain various mill equipment to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimum interruption Enhance operational efficiency while ensuring safety and compliance. Use technical knowledge and maintenance history of equipment to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs Perform administrative activities such as scheduling and paying employees, completing maintenance reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as necessary by the operating facility Establish performance goals and objectives with Day Manager/Area Manager – Steam Generation Education/Experience/Qualifications from TSSA 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate preferred. Will consider 3rd Class who is working towards their 2nd . 2+ years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial or unionized environment as a Shift Engineer Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills required Job Skills and Knowledge Good working knowledge of electrical or mechanical maintenance practices and required skills Strong oral and written communication skills Good interpersonal and leadership skills Strong problem-solving skills Ability and desire to work in a shop floor environment Proficient in MS Office An enthusiastic approach and ability to learn quickly and assume responsibility As a manager/supervisor of the company, qualified candidates for this role also must demonstrate the ability to manage change, communicate effectively, and lead high-performance teams. Your work environment Fast-paced heavy industrial manufacturing environment for a high impact team The job is within a heavy industrial environment and you will be required to work within various areas of the facility Safe production is a core value of our organization. All work must be performed in accordance with established safety procedures and guidelines. Maintain safe and efficient operations of utilities facilities and equipment while providing leadership to bargaining unit personnel and contractors. Administer safety programs, resolve technical equipment issues, and coordinate maintenance efforts to maximize operational efficiency.

Requires a TSSA 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate (or 3rd Class working towards 2nd) and at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial or unionized environment. Must possess strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and a valid driver's license.
