Résumé du poste
A LITTLE ABOUT US & WHY WE’RE HIRING After ten and a half years of growing Striving for Synergy and serving the Toronto community, I am incredibly proud of the psychotherapy practice and team we have built — and we are excited to be growing again. Striving for Synergy is a therapist-founded private psychotherapy practice specializing in complex trauma, OCD, and attachment-related concerns. Trauma work is at the heart of much of what we do, including attachment and developmental trauma, relational and sexual trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma. OCD and anxiety disorders are also established areas of clinical specialization within our practice. Over the years, we have built a strong reputation within the Toronto community and among our referral partners for thoughtful, highly specialized clinical care. As the owner and Clinical Director, maintaining that standard of care is incredibly important to me. We are not looking to simply fill a position. We are looking for the right clinician to join our team, and we are more than willing to wait for that person. We currently have a significant number of referrals waiting in the wings, particularly for in-person EMDR therapy and couples therapy. Our office is located at 1849 Yonge Street, directly across from Davisville Station. THIS IS ACTUALLY A TEAM When we say team, we genuinely mean it. We are not simply a collection of independent practitioners who happen to share an office, website, and referral source. We know one another. We consult with one another. We support one another. We laugh and celebrate together, and many genuine friendships have grown within our practice. You will find us at holiday parties, summer BBQs, dinners, brunches, coffee dates, patio drinks, pedal pubs, team outings, birthdays, and other celebrations. None of this is obligatory, of course, but the connection behind it is a very real part of our culture. We also care about the person behind the therapist. We care about your wellbeing, your family and life outside of work, your career, and the clinician you want to become. Therapists do incredibly meaningful work, but it can also be heavy work. We do not believe you should have to do it in isolation. If you want the autonomy of private practice without feeling like you are practicing alone, you may feel very at home here. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for an experienced Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Social Worker, or Psychologist with a strong clinical foundation, thoughtful clinical judgment, and confidence working with complex cases. For this position, our priorities are trauma and attachment therapy, in-person EMDR therapy, couples therapy, and sex therapy. TRAUMA, ATTACHMENT & EMDR Formal training in EMDR is required. Training and experience in Internal Family Systems (IFS) is highly recommended. We are looking for someone with meaningful experience working with complex trauma and attachment-related concerns, including developmental trauma, sexual trauma, relational trauma, PTSD, and dissociation. We currently have clients specifically seeking in-person EMDR therapy, so the successful clinician must be comfortable and experienced providing EMDR in person at our Midtown Toronto office. COUPLES THERAPY We are specifically looking for an experienced couples therapist who genuinely enjoys couples work, has formal postgraduate training in couples therapy, and feels confident working with relational complexity. Many of our couples referrals involve attachment injuries, trauma histories, betrayal, intimacy and sexual concerns, communication difficulties, conflict, and longstanding patterns of disconnection. Gottman Method Couples Therapy training is strongly preferred. Clinicians currently completing Gottman training are also encouraged to apply. Additional formal training in established couples and relationship therapy approaches is highly valued. We currently have couples therapy referrals waiting to be matched with the right therapist. SEX THERAPY Formal training in sex therapy is required. We are looking for a clinician who is comfortable and clinically competent supporting clients with concerns related to sexuality, sexual wellbeing, intimacy, desire, sexual functioning, and relationships. WHAT WE OFFER This independent contractor position is designed for a fully registered clinician who wants the autonomy of private practice without having to independently build and manage all of the infrastructure behind it. Our turn-key practice model includes: • A steady flow of aligned referrals • Scheduling and booking support • Billing and invoicing • Intake and consultation calls • Client follow-up and rebooking • Referral matching and caseload development • Secure EMR and client management software • Online booking and secure virtual therapy • Professional clinic email and client portal • Established marketing and multiple consistent referral streams • Monthly individual and/or peer clinical consultation • Opportunities for workshops, community education, supervision, mentorship, and leadership • A genuinely collaborative clinical team You do not need to pay for an EMR, figure out private practice marketing, chase invoices, or manage intake inquiries. You get to focus on being an excellent therapist. COMPENSATION We offer a competitive flat rate based on clinical training and experience. Our flat-rate model provides predictability and transparency while also protecting clinicians when the practice offers sliding-scale or reduced-fee services. In those circumstances, the practice absorbs the financial difference rather than passing the reduction along to the therapist. We believe client accessibility should not come at the expense of clinician sustainability. IN-PERSON CASELOAD & AVAILABILITY This position requires a minimum of 15 in-person client hours per week at our Midtown Toronto office. Virtual client hours may be offered in addition to those 15 hours, with plenty of opportunity to grow your caseload if desired and clinically sustainable. The successful clinician must be available for at least two in-person shifts per week, including at least one evening or weekend shift. Current office availability: • Monday: 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. • Tuesday: 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. • Wednesday: 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. • Thursday: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. • Friday: 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. • Saturday: after 12:00 p.m. • Sunday: 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. We want our clinicians to have thriving practices, but we also care about sustainability and life outside of work. YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT IF... Beyond clinical experience, we are looking for someone who is reflective, ethical, warm, grounded, reliable, and genuinely collaborative. You are curious and committed to continued learning. You are comfortable seeking consultation when a case is complicated and equally willing to share your knowledge with colleagues. Most importantly, you want to be part of a team. You value the autonomy of private practice, but you do not want to practice in isolation. REQUIREMENTS Applicants must: • Be fully registered and in good standing as an RP with CRPO, MSW/RSW with OCSWSSW, or Psychologist with CPBAO • Be authorized to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy in Ontario, where applicable • Have formal EMDR training • Have meaningful experience working with complex trauma and attachment-related concerns • Have formal postgraduate couples therapy training and demonstrated experience as a couples therapist • Ideally have completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy training or currently be enrolled in Gottman training • Have formal training in sex therapy • Commit to a minimum of 15 in-person client hours per week • Be available for at least two in-person shifts per week, including at least one evening or weekend shift • Reside in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of Midtown Toronto • Maintain professional liability insurance with a minimum of $2 million in coverage • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing consultation, training, and professional development Training and experience in IFS is highly recommended, particularly given the complex trauma and attachment presentations commonly seen within our practice. We know this is a specific list. That is intentional. We are fortunate to have an established practice, an incredible team, strong referral relationships, and clients already waiting for specialized services. We are prepared to take our time finding someone whose clinical experience, values, personality, and professional goals genuinely align with Striving for Synergy. HOW TO APPLY If you have read this far and thought, “This sounds like the kind of team I would love to be part of,” we would genuinely love to hear from you. Please email [email protected] with: • Your CV/resume • A cover letter telling us about you, your clinical approach, specialized training, and why you are interested in joining Striving for Synergy • Your current in-person availability and ideal working hours Both a CV and cover letter are required for an application to be considered. We will contact applicants whose experience, training, clinical interests, and approach appear to align with what we are looking for. EQUITY, INCLUSION & BELONGING Striving for Synergy is committed to creating a practice where clients and clinicians from diverse backgrounds, identities, cultures, relationships, and lived experiences feel welcomed, affirmed, and respected. We strongly encourage applications from clinicians with diverse lived experiences and perspectives.
