We're hiring: Casual Caretakers Clean. Reliable. Welcoming. Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking reliable and flexible Casual Caretakers to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments for our students and staff. As a Casual Caretaker, you'll have the flexibility to pick up shifts as they become available, providing an opportunity to contribute to our schools while maintaining a flexible schedule and work-life balance. What You'll Be Doing Maintaining The Cleanliness Of The School Through Cleaning of the washrooms Mopping, sweeping, waxing, and vacuuming floors Washing walls and lockers Removal of garbage Other related duties as assigned Why This Role Matters Clean, well-maintained schools provide students and staff with safe, welcoming spaces where they can learn, work, and thrive. What Success Looks Like Classrooms, washrooms, hallways, and common areas are consistently clean, safe, and well-maintained. Cleaning tasks are completed thoroughly, efficiently, and according to established schedules and standards. Floors, walls, lockers, and other school facilities are maintained in a condition that reflects pride in the school environment. Health, safety, and cleaning procedures are followed consistently and responsibly. Maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or facility issues are identified and reported promptly. School staff, students, and visitors experience a clean and welcoming environment every day. Equipment, cleaning supplies, and custodial resources are used safely and effectively. You are recognized as a dependable team member who contributes positively to the overall operation of the school. What You Bring WHMIS and First Aid Certification is an asset Experience using floor scrubbers and polishers is an asset Applicants must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Applicants must have a clear criminal record with a vulnerable sector check and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. WHMIS, First Aid certification, and experience with floor scrubbers are considered assets.
