Our client is one of Canada’s largest truck and trailer rental companies, and they are searching for a results-driven and highly resilient Director of Operations to lead a multifaceted operations team in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This role is critical to the success of the business and will focus on optimizing service delivery, improving systems and workflows, and elevating team performance across key operational areas in an asset-intensive service environment. The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, proactive, and persistent—someone who thrives on solving problems, navigating ambiguity, and taking ownership of outcomes. This is a high-visibility role with substantial impact, reporting directly to the President and requiring an exceptional ability to work independently, maintain focus, and deliver results while coordinating with a variety of stakeholders. What you should expect: Lead the operational strategy and execution across multiple departments, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Build and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and cost control across service areas. Oversee logistics, fleet coordination, and inventory management with a focus on optimizing resource use. Establish and monitor KPIs, prepare performance reports, and provide actionable insights to executive leadership. Maintain operational control over service quality, vendor relationships, and customer satisfaction. Develop and manage budgets, operational procedures, procurement strategies, and cost-saving initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to support cohesive business delivery. Hire, train, and mentor operations staff while building a culture of accountability and high performance. Actively audit operational processes, systems, and data to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Champion a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation within the operations team. What you should bring: 8+ years of operations leadership experience with a track record of delivering high-impact results in a multi-departmental environment. Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams, operational budgets, and layered service lines. Exceptionally self-directed and motivated, with the grit and determination to drive progress and overcome obstacles independently. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate challenging personalities and influence at all levels. Experience with logistics coordination, cost control, and project management. Experience with developing, implementing, and optimizing technology systems and analytics tools to drive operational visibility, process improvement, and data-informed decision-making.
