Job Description: About the role The Manager, Operational Resilience and Continuity supports Sun Life's enterprise Operational Resilience and Continuity program by providing second-line oversight, effective challenge, training, advisory support, and resilience expertise across Business Groups. The role helps strengthen the organization's ability to prevent, respond to, recover from, and adapt to operational disruptions by supporting the integration of Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management, Technology Resilience, and third-party resilience within a unified Operational Resilience framework. Through review, challenge, analysis, training, and stakeholder engagement, the role supports the development of sustainable resilience capabilities, regulatory compliance, and resilience outcomes across the enterprise. What you'll be doing Operational Resilience Oversight & Challenge Provide independent second-line oversight, effective challenge, and advisory support across Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, and Crisis Management activities. Assess resilience risks, vulnerabilities, capability gaps, and policy compliance, escalating material concerns through established governance processes. Resilience Capability Development Support the evolution of Operational Resilience frameworks, policies, standards, methodologies, tools, training, and guidance. Help integrate Business Continuity Management into the broader Operational Resilience framework and support capability uplift across Business Groups. Resilience Lifecycle & Scenario Testing Review and challenge critical operations assessments, dependency mapping, Business Impact Analyses, resilience planning, recovery strategies, third-party contingency planning, and resilience testing activities. Support the design, execution, and evaluation of severe-but-plausible resilience scenarios and exercises. Reporting & Insights Develop resilience reporting, metrics, dashboards, and risk insights for management, governance committees, and regulatory purposes. Identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities to strengthen resilience capabilities and outcomes. Stakeholder Engagement & Training Provide training, guidance, and subject matter expertise to Business Groups, Risk Officers, and other stakeholders. Build strong partnerships across Operational Risk, Technology, Cyber, Third-Party Risk Management, and Business Group teams to promote integrated resilience outcomes. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Leverage data, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to enhance resilience assessments, reporting, monitoring, and decision-making. Promote continuous improvement and simplification of resilience processes and capabilities across the enterprise. What you'll need to succeed 7+ years of experience in Operational Resilience, Operational Risk, Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Technology Resilience, Third-Party Risk Management, or related disciplines. Strong analytical, reporting, stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills. Experience supporting governance, oversight, risk management, and regulatory programs. Professional certification (e.g., BCI, DRI, CBCP, ORM, CRISC, CISA or equivalent) is an asset. The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
