The Patient Accounts team of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s Finance department has an immediate temporary full-time opening for a Senior Billing Clerk. Patient Accounts is a high-volume, fast paced department responsible for the billing and collections of all revenue at the Hospital. Working with two other team members, this role facilitates the OHIP billing process for all Medical Imaging procedures performed at the Hospital. This role also assists with the billing and collection of Medical Imaging procedures for non-OHIP patients in accordance with Hospital policies. Summary Of Duties Process OHIP claims in the Hospital billing system, ensuring all required information is accurately entered Review the validity of OHIP claims prior to submission to minimize claim rejections Clear account deficiencies and make corrections to OHIP claims as required Investigate rejected OHIP claims, resolve issues, and prepare them for timely resubmission Interpret medical records to support manual review submission inquiries Gather and verify billing information from referring physicians, patients, and other relevant parties Assist with medical imaging billings for WSIB, interprovincial programs, third-party insurers and self-pay accounts. Provide support in resolving medical imaging billing concerns and responding to related questions Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up to ensure timely payment Make collection calls on overdue accounts when necessary Perform additional related duties as assigned In order to succeed in this role, the successful candidate must possess the following required and preferred qualifications and skills: Required Post-secondary medical terminology diploma or equivalent education/experience. Minimum of 2 years experiences of OHIP billing procedures. Knowledge of the MOH Schedule of Benefits and a demonstrated ability to interpret. Proficient and accurate data-entry skills Strong written and verbal communication and customer relations skills High level of attention to detail Ability to interact with patients and families with sensitivity, patience, and discretion Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment Ability to work independently Preferred Background in medical imaging in a hospital or related healthcare environment Experience processing electronic OHIP claims Multilingual abilities
