Operating Technicians Chester, Nova Scotia Sustane Technologies Inc. is a clean technology company focused on waste transformation. Sustane has developed and is commercializing a set of disruptive processes to transform municipal solid waste (MSW) and landfill destined plastic streams into high value fuels, chemical feedstocks and recyclable materials. Sustane's core concept is the complete separation of MSW, and their technology breakthrough delivers pure products that were not previously possible. The result is unprecedented value recovery and waste diversion levels with the potential to practically eliminate landfills in the future. Sustane believes that current consumption and waste patterns are simply not sustainable and that we must fundamentally challenge how we sustain ourselves on this planet. Sustane’s first North American facility began construction in the Spring of 2018. Located in Chester, Nova Scotia. This facility will have a capacity of 70,000 tonnes per year of MSW. We are seeking Operating Technicians to join our growing team. Responsibilities of the Operating Technicians include but are not limited to: Overseeing plant operations. You will be required to demonstrate acceptable color vision for operation of control monitoring equipment. Maintaining logbooks and records. Monitoring and troubleshooting operating equipment. Performing or assisting in preventative and routine maintenance including areas where Fall Protection is required. Lifting up to 40lbs may be required. · Identify process deviations and perform root cause/corrective action. Maintaining work areas to a high level of cleanliness. Use forklift or other mobile equipment to support the operation. Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances at all times. Other duties may be assigned by Chief Power Engineer. As an Operating Technician, you will take the front-line responsibility for continuous (shift) operation of the facility. This may require flexibility in shift schedule. While the process is highly automated and the role is a mix of control room and field operations, monitoring is also a key requirement. You will perform daily checks to ensure equipment is running properly by monitoring and troubleshooting the equipment that will include air heaters, process reactors, cleaning systems, conveyors, dryers, pelletizers, pumps, and other processing equipment. You will work closely with Sustane’s maintenance team to ensure efficient and timely equipment diagnosis and response to breakdowns. You will issue work and test permits to electrical and mechanical maintenance personnel and assist them with locating technical issues. You will lock out equipment as required for safe operational and maintenance access. You will be knowledgeable in operating automated/computerized control systems in the plant. You will work with the engineering team to improve performance and look for ways to continuously improve the processes. Sustane will offer a starting wage of $24.40 per hour with the opportunity of progression to $29.00 per hour or more. As the ideal candidate, you will have a proven record of performance in a process operating role. You have strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and workplace safety programs.
