Détails du poste

About SweetGeorgia SweetGeorgia is a Vancouver-based fibre arts studio. We make hand-dyed yarns, produce educational video content, and run an online learning community called the School of SweetGeorgia. Our content lives on YouTube, Instagram, and our course platform, and it covers knitting, spinning, weaving, and dyeing. We are a small team — you will be the person editing the footage and, on studio days, one of the people holding a camera. The Role This is a hybrid position combining remote video editing with on-set production support at our Vancouver studio. This is roughly 80% remote editing, 20% on-set support. Editing (remote, flexible hours, deadline-driven) You will take raw footage and turn it into finished video for YouTube (long-form), Instagram Reels (9:16 with captions and text overlays), and online course lessons (clarity-first, chaptered). You will manage your own project queue, hit deadlines, and keep us updated as you go. On-set (Vancouver studio, ~2–3 days/month) On shoot days you will work as a junior B/C-camera operator and production assistant. That means setting up and running a second or third camera, pulling focus, finding the right angle, assisting with lighting and gear, handling media offloads, and keeping the set running smoothly. What You'll Do Edit video content for YouTube (long-form), Instagram (9:16 Reels with captions/text overlays), and course lessons (clarity-first, chaptered) Operate a B or C camera on studio shoot days, adjusting framing and focus to capture the shot Handle media ingest, backup, file naming, and asset organization Create and update motion graphics (instructor name animations, title cards) Manage your tasks and revisions in ClickUp, keeping statuses current and communicating proactively Organize and locate assets in our digital asset management system (pics.io) Follow established naming, versioning, and export standards across all platforms What We're Looking For At least 2 years shooting and editing your own video, with a body of work you took start to finish on your own Strong video editing skills in DaVinci Resolve and/or Adobe Premiere Pro Excellent creative eye and storytelling instincts Experience with camera operation (doesn't need to be senior-level, but you should be comfortable pulling focus and framing shots) Comfort with file management, proxy workflows, and multi-platform export specs Familiarity with Canva, or willingness to learn quickly Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines independently Excellent communication skills: clear, proactive, generously helpful, and empathetic A genuinely positive and encouraging nature, with flexibility and resilience when things shift quickly Growth mindset: a belief that we can always learn something new and always be getting better Must be available for on-set days in Vancouver, BC (~2–3 days/month) Nice to Have Interest in or familiarity with fibre arts, textile crafts, or maker culture Experience with YouTube content workflows (thumbnails, SEO, chapters) Experience with digital asset management tools To Apply Send your résumé and one link to a video you filmed and edited yourself, start to finish. Tutorial or instructional-style work is especially welcome. Tell us in a line or two what you shot it on, what you edited it in, and roughly how many videos you have made on your own. Please include a short note about why this role interests you. What We Cannot Teach You don't need to know how to knit, spin, weave, or dye. We'd genuinely love to teach you, and honestly, most people who spend time around this studio end up with a project on the go. What we can't teach you is video. So this probably isn't the right fit if your best work came out of a team where someone else held the camera or someone else made the cut. Same if your real strength is graphic design or photography rather than moving pictures, or if you're early enough in your career that you're looking for a place to learn the craft. There's no crew here to lean on. We need someone who can already do the thing.
