What- the Role: On behalf of our Client, SWIM is seeking a new Director of Finance, reporting to Ownership. Leading a team of 8 people in total (mix of direct and indirect reports). The primary focus for the new Director of Finance will of course be Accounting & Finance, and they will also lead other corporate services (i.e. HR, IT), including overseeing outsourced consultants. The Director of Finance will manage the day-to-day output of their accounting team and also contribute a great deal to the strategic direction of the company. Specific responsibilities include cashflow management, budgeting & forecasting, ad hoc and routine management reporting, process improvements, and ongoing system optimization. Who- the Candidate: We are seeking a well-rounded business leader with excellent communication skills and relationship building capabilities. The new Director of Finance will be personable, entrepreneurial, down-to-earth, confident, resilient, and adaptable. Excellent leadership skills are key in this role, as is the ability to partner effectively with folks across the organization- in all departments and at all levels. We are looking for someone who started their career as a “traditional Accountant” but who has taken a path to become more and more of a general business leader. The Director of Finance will be someone who can be the only “accounting & finance person” sitting in the Boardroom and be able to contribute strategically to the business planning. Education & Qualifications- CPA Designation is required. Foundational experience in a public practice accounting firm is required (midsize CPA firm or large multinational accounting firm). Experience- Approximately 10 to 15 years of relevant and progressive work experience. This could be the first Director level role for the successful candidate. Experience in a similar finance leadership capacity. Size- Experience working for a mid-size and entrepreneurial business, with revenues of over $100M Cdn. Sector- Preference for experience in a company making and moving product and/or in an industrial business. How Much: Base salary commensurate with years of relevant work experience, qualifications, and skills. The anticipated base salary for this role (base and bonus) is in the range of $160,000 to $190,000, plus a performance-based bonus, benefits, paid time off, etc. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with SWIM. Where: Based in New Westminster. The Director of Finance will work from the office an average of 4 days/week, collaborating in-person with their team and with the Owners.
