This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, high-performing Finance team during an exciting period of growth and transformation. What – the Opportunity SWIM Recruiting has been exclusively engaged to recruit a Senior Manager, Tax, reporting directly to the VP, Tax. This is a newly created position that offers the opportunity to play a significant role in building and shaping a global tax function. Rather than stepping into a mature environment, the successful candidate will help establish best practices, strengthen governance, improve documentation and processes, and gradually bring more tax expertise in-house as the organization continues to grow. This is a highly visible role that combines technical tax expertise with business partnering, strategic projects, process improvement, and operational leadership. Key responsibilities include: Global Tax Compliance & Risk Management Oversee global tax compliance across multiple international jurisdictions. Coordinate external tax advisors and service providers. Support tax audits and regulatory inquiries. Monitor international tax legislation, including emerging global tax developments. Strengthen governance, documentation, and internal controls while proactively managing tax risk. Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting Prepare and review global income tax provisions under ASC 740 (US GAAP). Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements. Improve tax working papers, reporting documentation, and internal controls. Build scalable reporting processes aligned with future public company requirements. Support executive reporting and tax risk assessments. Global Tax Strategy & Business Partnering Support transfer pricing and global tax planning initiatives. Partner closely with Finance, Product, Engineering, Sales, HR, Legal, and other business leaders on tax implications of strategic initiatives. Assist with R&D tax incentives across multiple jurisdictions. Support acquisitions, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration. Contribute to ongoing international expansion and tax optimization initiatives. Building the Function One of the most exciting aspects of this opportunity is the ability to help build a world-class in-house tax function. Historically, the organization has relied heavily on external advisors. The long-term vision is to gradually bring more expertise internally while improving governance, documentation, controls, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will have significant influence over how the tax department evolves over the coming years. Who – the Candidate Our client is seeking an experienced tax professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a genuine business-partner mindset. The successful candidate enjoys improving processes, solving complex problems, and working collaboratively across multiple business functions. Required qualifications include: CPA designation (or international equivalent). Approximately 8+ years of progressive tax experience. Big Four (or large national public practice) training. Strong Canadian corporate tax experience. Experience preparing tax provisions. Strong tax accounting knowledge. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong project management capabilities. Comfortable operating independently within a fast-paced, high-growth organization. Highly desirable experience includes: Industry experience within a multinational organization. ASC 740 (US GAAP income tax accounting). Transfer pricing. International tax. Indirect tax (GST/HST/VAT/Sales Tax). Pillar Two. IPO readiness. M&A due diligence and integration. Public company reporting. AI-enabled tax tools and process automation. Technology industry experience would certainly be beneficial, but it is not considered essential. The hiring team is much more interested in someone with a strong technical foundation, commercial mindset, and the desire to build and improve a growing global tax function. This is much more than a traditional Senior Tax Manager opportunity. You'll have the opportunity to: Help build a global tax function from the ground up. Partner directly with an experienced VP, Tax. Work alongside senior leaders across Finance and the broader business. Gain exposure to global tax strategy, acquisitions, international expansion, transfer pricing, and IPO readiness. Where The position is based in Metro Vancouver with a hybrid work arrangement requiring two days per week in the office.
