T. Musselman Excavating is seeking a skilled and self-driven Mobile Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role supporting a diverse fleet of heavy equipment across multiple brands and applications, including excavation, site servicing, and aggregate operations. This position is primarily field-based (approximately 75% mobile / 25% shop) and comes with a fully equipped service truck. If you take pride in diagnosing issues, working independently, and keeping equipment running efficiently in fast-paced environments, this is a great opportunity to be part of a growing and well-supported team. Salary: $40/hr+, dependent on experience Benefits: Available after probationary period Responsibilities Diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of heavy equipment across multiple manufacturers (primarily Komatsu, CAT, and Deere) Perform both preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs in the field and shop Accurately document all work performed, including time, parts used, and detailed notes (complaint, cause, correction, and recommendations) Operate independently in a mobile environment, managing workload, prioritizing repairs, and minimizing equipment downtime Maintain and organize the service truck, ensuring it is clean, stocked, and in good working condition Uphold a safe and organized work environment, both in the field and in the shop Build strong working relationships with team members, supervisors, and external suppliers Follow all company health & safety policies, training, and reporting requirements Work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions Support additional shop or field tasks as required Desired Skills and Experience 421A Heavy Equipment Technician certification (required) Minimum 3+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work efficiently to industry-standard repair times Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract Ability to work independently with minimal supervision A positive, team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal) Strong organization and time management skills Own set of tools, maintained in good working order Physical ability to lift and handle heavy components throughout the day T.
