Tax Director | Greater Toronto Area Tax Director $150,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Benefits A growing and well-established real estate organization is seeking a Tax Director to lead tax compliance, tax planning, and strategic tax initiatives across a complex multi-entity platform. This is a high-impact leadership role with significant exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to drive process improvements, automation, and long-term tax strategy. The Opportunity As Tax Director, you will oversee all aspects of corporate taxation, provide guidance on complex transactions and structuring matters, and ensure compliance across a diverse portfolio of entities. You'll play a key role in supporting growth initiatives while building a scalable and efficient tax function. Key Responsibilities ✅ Lead corporate tax compliance, tax returns, HST filings, and statutory reporting. ✅ Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions, deferred taxes, and related reconciliations. ✅ Develop and implement tax planning strategies to support business objectives. ✅ Oversee audits and maintain relationships with external advisors and tax authorities. ✅ Advise on transactions, financing, restructuring, and strategic initiatives. ✅ Drive process improvements, automation, and the enhancement of tax controls and reporting. ✅ Support partnership, joint venture, and multi-entity tax matters. Ideal Background ✔ CPA designation. ✔ 7+ years of progressive tax experience, including leadership responsibilities. ✔ Strong expertise in Canadian corporate tax, tax provisions, and compliance. ✔ Background in public accounting (Big 4 or mid-market firm preferred). ✔ Experience with tax planning, restructurings, partnerships, and joint ventures. ✔ Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications ✔ Public accounting experience (Big 4 or mid-market firm preferred) ✔ Experience in corporate tax planning, restructuring, and tax advisory work ✔ Background working within multi-entity and/or multi-provincial organizations ✔ Real estate tax experience, including property tax and development-related matters, considered an asset ✔ Experience with NEWSTAR or similar real estate accounting/development systems ✔ Proficiency with SharePoint for documentation management, workflow processes, and collaboration For a confidential discussion, please apply directly.
